The Myth Mod

I am planning on making a myth mod with many units like Chimeras, Pegasus', Manticores, Minotaurs, Nephilim, Leviathians, Sphinxes, Cerberus', and any other myth units that are great.

To show my plan I am working on a "demo" pegasus which is anything but. It will have detailed designs of colored feathers and a golden armored rider, Bellerophon. It'll take awhile to make it but if the people want a bunch of myth units I'll make 'em! If you have any suggestions on units or compliments, or errors and bugs, please tell me! :goodjob:

NOTE: I'm also hoping to make a myth conquest and a biblical conquest. Also if the makers of the Great Lost Civilizations mod want these units I'll contribute them.

Myth Units alone may make it a bit difficult, but if it were handled a bit like Age of Mythologies, then you'd have several Civs with different Myth Units (Maybe have a subdivison of Civ like with Age of Mythologies God System so, in effect, "Civil War" might occur.). Then you could use the Civs that come with the game, but alter them for the mythological side. Like China and it's mythologies of things such as Dragons. And characters (both good and bad) from Hinduism for India. Except, when it comes to England, I suggest using the mytholgy that was created for it by an avid writer; Tolkien.

Nope!

That's what I was thinking of, different civs have myth UUs. But mainly I would like some suggestions about myth units that I'll try and make. And for a demo I'm starting on a Pegasus with Bellerophon as the rider. It will take a LONG time to put together but most of these units will be part of my myth conquest about the time before the Trojan War but with a bit of an overlap of Greek and Anatolian civs.

PS: I am making a Biblical mod about the Exodus which will be kinda like the Mesopotamia conquest except with mythical/religious UU's as well.

Hey...sounds like a great idea to me! I would be interested in it! Hey can I ask you something...how would you guys feel about an "Atlantis Scenario?" Your civilization gets 8000 years to develop before the other civs are founded! So you get to have the most advanced units you can research and produce while other civs are just starting out with warriors! It may seem too EASY for any player but I sure as heck like the idea! You can really be the ultimate superpower and can take over the whole world leaving only room for 1 CIV CAPITAL CITY while you have bought out or taken over their secondary cities! You could even try to establish alliances with all of them or prevent right of passage so they can ONLY defend their capital cities! What do you guy's think?

I have had an Atlantis scenario in the works for a while now- its halted 'till C3C comes out an dI see what optiones I have to work with- though it will not be that idea... there will several "power house" civs, such as Atlantis itself, with multipole UUs' at least one for each era if it works out right, and many renamed civs- the civs will all be taken from the Bronze age period as it occured in Europe, with the exception of some African, and American civs...

this said, i would like to use myhtilogical units to give an interestign feel to the game... a minotaur UU for Atlantis perhaps? :D

u could use giants for england, i read somewhere it was known as the land of giants.

Are you sure? I've been English my whole life (And, last time I checked, I was still English) and I've never heard it refered to as Land of the Giants. I'm still for the Tolkien mythology (maybe have a research of "Lord of the Rings" give various Tolkien units) for England. But that's only because I think the myths of England along time back were more when England was land owned by the Celts when they emmigrated from the continent. Then again, history of England isn't soemtihng I'm good at. Living in Scotland, I'm only ever educated on Scottish History.

there are ancient celtic myths regardign the first settelers of the british isels encounterng giants like the Formoranns...IIRC

Like I said then, the Celts get them. Maybe, if this was on a world map, you could have a resource in Britain that let's the Celt's build Giants.

Anybody who wants to use these units can, once they are fully designed, tested, and given civilopedia entries. Some things to remember about an Atlantis conquest:

It has three ring shaped islands with the Temple of Poseidon (great wonder of course) in the center. A small canal connected to the first ring of water that cut off the ring islands from the rest of the continent. And Atlantis was a near perfect rectangle three times larger than "Africa" which to Plato was Libya, Mauretania, and some of the Sahara.

The minotaur will be my first unit once my demo Pegasus comes out. And for the Atlantis scenario, how about changing the airfield to look like a labyrinth and place the Minotaur there on Crete as an easter egg of sorts. But you can't mod the features of it and if the Pegasus and the Roc are aerial myth units than there are some problems there. Oh well.

Remember if anybody has any thoughts or suggestions on the myht units than do tell. Here are some planned units:
Manticore, Chimera, Pegasus, Minotaur, Roc, Cerberus, Sphinx, Scarab, Mummy, Nephilim, Leviathian, Hippocampus, Cyclops, and any other great unit! :)

Which mythology are the Nephilim from?

The Nephilim are the giant sons of fallen angels and mortal women, so they are a Hebrew legend (notice I said legend, not myth). And now I'm thinking of posting a poll about the myth mod. Do you think my demo Pegasus should be an elaborate land unit with an armored rider or a plain flying horse, either why I'll make both.

legend and Myth are more or less the same thing ;)- if they werent, i wouldnt use "myth" to describe the...interesting...creatures on my own religion, Greco-Roman polytheism...

as for the contenet of Atlantis, the rings of water will be represent by at least one river corciling the coastal city site (giving the city a VERY good bonus on defence), the landmass of Atlantis itself, while not rectanguler, dose bear a resemblance to one (it is based of the Atlantis in the game "Poseidon", and x-pac to the game "Zeus", by seirra studios, and Impressions Games, a very cool game IMO)

other assorted goodies will reveal themselves with time ;)

I think the Age of Mythology or the one you mentioned Atlantis would be more playable than a stupid rectangle, which I forgot to mention would be boring. Don't forget to add lots of ivory! Plato said it had elephants. How big is your Atlantis going to be, Xen?

Also please give me some feedback if you like the idea of the units, people! And that Pegasus aint doing to well, I can't even figure out how to start. I may have ideas but I don't know how to use them any more!

here is the mini map as it stands- note the large land mass in the Atlantic, with several large islands as well...

a better veiw of the ever bountiful, verdant land of Atlantis :D

* note- I might be re-arranging things a bit to give that main city an even bigger boost....

Like the map, and the ivory! But Atlantis has so many resources (like it should) but what makes it hard, besides higher difficulty? Maybe there should be lots of barbarians north and west of your starting location filled with mythical creatures. Hey Xen, what kinda leaderhead are you planning for? Cause it would look great, and a flag would be hard to think off for the Atlanteans.

I'll start on that Minotaur once C3C comes out but what should define it as Atlantean? Maybe a Atlantean tattoo on him or some kind of....what????

I'm stylin gthe Atlatians on a combintion of Greek, and Minoan Influnces, this said, a big double blades war axe for the minotaur should do ;)

I'm planing on two civs satrting on the main landmass of Atlantis, the Atlantians them selves, and a as yet undecided other (though a cebtaur civ is on my list, I'm taking a lot of ideas from the games "Zeus", and "Posiedon", in that game, an early oponent to the Atlantian city states is a few Centaur ones... and luckilly enough, a centaur unit already exists... :)
