The New Blaxploitation?

I actually think that while the movie its self will, no doubtlyl blow bigguns, its a sign that "race" is becoming less of an issue as far as "black"/"white" goes

Not really Xen. Its only exploiting black people. Black people, according to these movies, are really really cool and their culture is really really cool and all we should do is stereotype them.

Anyway, the original blaxploitation was at least funny (and well spoofed in cowboy bebop i may add ;)) but these movies are just dull. They make me feel stupider.

And sadly I think it only reinforces the stereotype that many black people (especially kids) live out. I know alot of peopel who eat this stuff up. Even if they say they hate the movie, they're influecend by the culture...

These movies are aimed at white kids who wish they were black. I like to call these people "white chocolate". Apparently being black lets you say stereotypical black sayings. No self-respecting black person still says "bling-bling". I heard that phrase 4 times today. It is slowly driving me insane. :crazyeye: :jump: :aargh:

I think the original blaxploitation movies were aimed at white people too.

They're called whiggers actually. I have a funny experience related to it though. In our high school (one of the best public schools in my state) there was this white kid who had gone for an all out gangster look. He was trying to make some black friends, but he ended up frightening most of them because they actually thought he was a real gang member. Oh... the irony.

Uh, black people and their culture are really really cool, considering "cool" (in my opinion) is what's in the movies, what's in music, what people try to be, etc. Movies *make* cool.

Besides, there's some white people in that movie too. :p

The movies don't really make cool. They take what was once cool, package it, and sell it in a more distilled, swallowable form to the masses. And then it is no longer cool. ;)

Yeah, but they're probably the losing dance troup that get's their asses kicked.

Wait, did I just say troup? I mean crew! ;)

That's probably true. Well, one way or another black people became cool. And it's not so much because of race but because music is more ingrained in their culture. It's inevitable that they be considered cool. In fact, you could sort of say it's been like this since Europeans imported Africans into their continent, and thought the Africans were "entertaining."

You mean the ones that get served? ;) Yeah, that's what I imagine too. That, or they suddenly reveal that they're in the Klan.

*clap*

So you can breakdance. That gets you... oh... about as much respect in the real world as being able to turn your tongue upside-down. "If you want respect, you have to TAKE it?"

Pfft. History has taught us many, many times that respect taken instead of earned is just fear in another form.
