The Newbies Society

:wavey:
It certainly is refreshing to see so many new people! :D In this game, as in life, you get out of it what you put in, multiplied by the quality of what you put in. Rest assured that if you take an active and quality role in the government threads and citizen discussions, that will be recognized by the established players.

My own example shows just how quickly you can get involved. In DG3 Term 1, I had a post count in the single digits, but started posting a lot of tech path suggestions in the science threads, and settler positioning suggestions in the domestic threads. I attended some turnchats and asked some well thought out questions about game play. To my huge surprise, in term 2 my self-nomination for science leader ended in a lopsided win because a bunch of experienced players chose not to run and endorsed me as someone who deserved a chance. Some among your membership have already earned recognition for excellent work during the final phase of the rules discussions.

Feel free to drop in anytime and voice your opinions in the government threads, discussions, and polls. Our doors are always open. :D

My first Demogame ... sign me up. Still trying to figure out what I'm supposed to read and what I'm supposed to be doing.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all "newbies" to the Democracy Game! This is my first DG, as well.

Now, the pitch:

We NEED your vote! Use the links below to vote for Articles and amendments to the Constitution. So you say, "My vote can't be that important. I'm new to this." Your vote is very important. This is a democracy and if we don't achieve enough votes, our Constitution will have glaring holes in it.

Please, VOTE now.

Being newly registered, I will join. And I have a question:

If I have a question, do I report the question to the appropriate ministry/branch? Or can i just ask?

Sir Donald III, I believe Provolution means "Ask away" or just ask.

If you have a question that seems detailed to you, feel free to start a thread abou the matter. This will draw attention to your concern and allow several people the opportunity to respond directly to it. If you know your question deals with a certain Department (military matters or cultural concerns, etc.), you can go directly to that Dept. thread and ask the Minister. Or you can just follow up something you read in some post with a quote of what you question, and ask there. Experiment, find out what works best for you. And welcome.

also you could pop into the chat room, CT never leaves and theres generally a few of us there at all times :)

In the overall demogame forum

I have added a link to the opening post as well.

@ newbies society members

Any questions guys, please don't hesitate to ask. I notice we have a lot of members, but not all of them are actively involving themselves much. Please don't be afraid to ask questions, particularly in here, or if sitting back and watching is your syle, that's fine too.

Who can tell me how to change the way my hyperlinks appear so that it is a bit more pretty, instead of the actual URL it displays the title of the thread, or something?

First place your blinking cursor in the text box of the reply/edit page. Then above that box, click on the "insert Hyperlink" icon (looks like the world with a chainlink at the bottom). A box will appear at the top left of the page. Enter what you wish to appear in your post in place of the link address (this could be the name of a thread or whatever text you wish. Then click ok. A new box will appear with an http:// highlighted. Right click on the highlighted http:// and click on paste in the menu that appears. The address in your clipboard will be pasted in. Click ok and the link will be created in your post.
