The Official Unit Select/Order Sounds Lab!

For an austrian or bavarian civilization this sounds will be appropriate, I think.
Someone who is able to record and spell them right is needed.

German (Austrian/Bavarian dialect):

Order 000- "Wie's wolln."
Order 001- "Gemma!"
Order 002- "Sichalich."
Order 003- "Mia san dabei."
Order 004- "Koa Problem."
Order 005- "Betrochtn's es als aledigt"
Order 006- "Sehr guat."
Order 007- "Aufm Weg!"
Order 008- "Beweg ma uns!"
Order 009- "Sie kennen auf uns zöhln."

Select 000-"Mia erwortn euren Beföhl."
Select 001-"Zu eiren Diensten."
Select 002-"Wos gibt's zum tuan?"
Select 003-"Wie lautet da Beföhl?"
Select 004-"Mia samma bereit!"
Select 005-"Homm's an Plan?"
Select 006-"Jo?"
Select 007- "Ihre Beföhle?"
Select 008- "Wos brauchen's denn?"
Select 009- "Olles bereit mochn!"

Hmm... I usually use the Holy Roman sounds, since I don't have the Holy Roman civ in my mod. If I ever make a Swiss civ I might use the HRE sounds for that one, though.

I can try and record those. I don't speak German (yet), but I have an accent and I know how to read. I hope it'll be the accent you're looking for. Anyway, I can record and post here for you to listen and tell me what are my mistakes. I know it'll be harder because it is a different dialect, but I can try.

You need to speak it like this guy does.

Would be great if you try. If there any mistakes in spelling, I will tell you. :goodjob:

Mistakes in spelling? You're the one who'se supposed to write those words.:)
When I'll have the time and the strength I'll get to the recording! Maybe even this week, maybe even tomorrow, I'm spontaneous!

Well, I do speak german, but with a slight north-german dialect, so even I won't try to sound like a bavarian or an austrian, because I think their dialects are really difficult to copy, if you don't speak them normally. So I am not that sure, that somebody, who doesn't even speak german, will be able to do so. But there are so many forum members from germany here, there must be anybody from Bavaria or Austria, who is willing to record the sounds.

The finnish ones sound more like estonian : D Much of typing errors.

Well, I tried translating. I speak no Finnish whatsoever.

I would like someone to tell me what the Portuguese are saying. I know a lot of Portuguese but these guys seem to be speaking in a hard to understand European dialect. I need to know the phrases so I can do the text for the Brazilian and Tupi sounds.

Which is the "Natvie American" language in game?

I'm wondering that too. If I had to guess, I'd say Lakhota, if only because Sitting Bull spoke it.

Bavarian and austrian unit texts, huh? Hmmm... I could create saxonian texts. But it is easier to speak it than to write it... Unfortunately I don't have the necessary equipment (I guess the microphone of my headset wouldn't be good enough). However, saxonian could be useful for a GDR civ . Not that I support that state (I actually hate it), but could be cool for a scenario.

EDIT: Maybe you could add / replace an existing order text with "Passt schon."? Mittermeier (comedian) says that from time to time.

Normally it is not a question of how good your microphone is, but how good your software ist. For example I use a quite cheap microphone myself, but when using it with skype or another good software, it's good enough. And of course nobody does like his own voice, so I think this is part of the reason, why you think, your microphone isn't good. Just give it a try with different software, you can say afterwards you have a bad microphone. ;) Btw, I allways like the saxonian dialect, it's really funny. ;)

Aha. Can you suggest a certain software for recordings? I mean Skype isn't for creating mp3s originally. On the other hand there could be plugins...

This could be texts for units:
select: Nu?
order: Nu nu.

BTW: Do you also originate from Saxony or are you a visitor? I am just curious.

I heard of something called "Audacity", people say good things about it. Try to look it up!
I also have another idea: if you think your mike is bad you can still record the voices and upload them and maybe I'll listen to them and re-record them with my microphone. I can copy accents really well.

I might one day need someone to recort select/order sounds for the mod that is currently listed as top secret in my sig. Is anyone willing to do something like that?

I think we might need some more info...

I think we might need some more info...

Many languages; one is similar to Egyptian (maybe changing accent in Egyptian select/order?), many have vowels ü, ö, and some ä, some glottal stops, languages from south have very common soft sounds sh, ch, zh, j, (like Polish Ć, Ś, Ź and Serbian Đ). Anyway, pronunciation can be very approximate, because nobody speaks those languages and will be included just to give, well, a bit of alien feeling.

Example of very common name is Metyü, and there is a city named Śinđ.

Wikipedia might be a good source for checking phonetics.
