I like it, it allows much more things to happen rather than things that have to happen in the case of alliances.

Yes, and also:

Since we have TGW there is not a great need
for an historical Global WWI scenario.

Most of what occured outside the TGW-map
had limited impact on the War.

It definetly was not "important" and the only "real" fighting outside of europe was Von Lettow-Vorbeck's campaign in German East.

Good to see you back Rocoteh!
And about your change of the start date: An earlier start date would also allow you to include Wilhelm's quest for German colonies.

CellKu,

Thank you.

Yes, I agree.
The colonial aspect should be very interesting.

Rocoteh
That is indeed before the ge of imperialism. It will be interesting.

Playtest-report from an "forgotten" scenario.

This is the third playtest of World War I - Global 1.9c:

Its now turn 121, August 1924.
Germany controls 34% of world area (40% to win)
and 44% of world population (50% to win)

In this scenario all the individual ships that have
been diiscussed for TGW NavalExp have already been placed.

The scenario is not alternate history, but its close.
There are historians who mean that there were only
one World War, with a long cease-fire (1918-1939).

You come close to that here, but there will probably be
no cease-fire.

My question to you the players:
Do you want me to complete this HUGE scenario?
I guess it will be a 60MB+ download and it has 31 Civs!

Its very fun to playtest but there will be waiting time
on most computers.

Looking forward to your answers.

Rocoteh

How long is the waiting time for you? I know you have a very fast pc.
My problem is that I have a rather slow pc, so I can hardly test huge scenarios. I experienced that with the last huge map here that I tried. (And, sadly enough, my time is quite limited these days).

Oh, and how far are you with completing this scenario? I would definitely like to see and play it sometime, but you are the one who has to decide.

CellKu

CellKu,

On my fast pc there are only 30 seconds waiting time.
On the old pc (512 MB RAM 1.2Ghz Celeron) waiting-time
is 30-40 minutes.

I guess there are still 200 hours of work left.
As you said its my decision, however with low feedback
it will probably end up as an private scenario.

I have only 700 MHz and 256 MB RAM. So that would approx. at least double the time. :(

Your new scenario is definitely worth getting more attention. Perhaps you could push interest by opening an "in-progress" thread in the main creation forum (as Sarevok did with his Old-China-scenario). Many (new) people might refrain from looking into this thread because its under the headline of TOE.

CellKu,

I will consider that.
The intention though is that the scenario shall be
launched from the TOE-thread.

I think you should do what you can then release it later. I will get a new computer in December for my birthday likely.

It will 99% be a late release.
Despite a very large input of working hours
and playtest, there is still much left to do.

World War I - Global 1.9b has been removed after
470 downloads.
The scenario was downloaded 943 times in its
different versions.

Reason for removal:
The scenario is no longer up to current standards.

Sarevok,

I appreciate if you remove the link from
the front page.

Rocoteh

If 1.9b is no longer up to "current standards", you have definitely raised the level leaving many other scenarios far far behind you!

(Btw, I will be away for about 3 weeks, so don't expect me to contribute much to your various threads - just wanted to let you know.)

Barbarossa is the standard ;)

Work with the "c"-version continues though.
Sorry to hear you will be away 3 weeks.
Your contributions are always of high value,
as I have pointed out many times.

Thank you, Rocoteh. It is always a pleasure for me to throw in my 2 cents, especially as all your scenarios are of highest quality. :)
