game seems to be down, or at least the connection is so slow i cant get in. As oob do have an upload limit on his connection the most likely cause of this is that people are quiting to desktop instead of to main menu and as such the connection will hang and take up loads of upload. A restart would hopefully fix it.

Yeah it was the 'hung connection' problem, so if people would please exit to the menu first before quitting that would be appreciated.

well i got in after setting my conection settings to modem and turning of all other conections to the internet like browsers and mesengers etc. It still took forever but at least i got in.

Nothing's using the upstream (at least not heavily enough to be noticeable) on my end.

Don't need much for 10 kbs but with ppl hanging it could be a problem anyways, did you restart the game and the uploader to civstats(i heard that had some upload problems too...).

Yeah have restarted it, not the uploader to civstats, but I can see from my bandwidth monitoring program that nothing is clogging it up.

Anyway, if I start getting other complaints I'll look into it further, but AFAICS it's fine now.

I think it's been discovered that it's the CivStats uploader that is causing all the extra open sockets. The CivStats thread indicates that he's working on that.

The server froze up for some reason, I've reloaded from the most recent autosave. Fortunately Dr Strangelove logged in and out (had already taken his turn earlier) just before the server crapped out in both games, so no one has lost their turn.

Both servers seem to be down, I'm at work atm so I won't be able to do anything for about 7-8 hours. Will let you all know when it's back up.

Spike: you will probably have to retake your turns since I will be reloading from the most recent autosave and you were the last person to log in for both games.

The servers are back up, and no one needs to retake their turn since Spike logged in on both servers (after having already taken his turn) before they went down.
