"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful." - Seneca

The Order seems to be much weaker than the other religions in the game, which is ridiculous, because it is also the latest religion and the one with the weakest pre-requisite technologies. I don't care if they are fanatics or not, all I know is that as a ruler, this religion is pathetically weak.

I mean seriously, a legion of 9-feet tall demons are charging at you, and all you do is sprinkle some "holy water" around and tell us our "blessed weapons" will win? Yeah, thanks.

Bless is one of the better disciple spells. +1 holy strength is pretty significant for a decent chuink of the game.

This could just be the Magic The Gathering dynamics talking, but I always thought of the Order as the religion for empowering the little people (no not dwarves). Giving the peons The Blessing, and then throwing them into the fray so they could rock their righteous attitudes against the demonic forces of darkness. Instead of a super unit I'd see a wonder that randomly creates a non national unit every turn when your at war.

I don't know, I do appreciate a morally ambiguous dark fantasy world like Erebus, but sometimes you want kiss the hilt of your sword, and slay Bad Guys with reckless abandon.

In all fairness, Erebus has some pretty clear-cut bad guys, so you can slay them with reckless abandon :)

The combination of law mana from Junil's temple, social order, basilicas, the +10 military construction bonus from temples and confessors with bless make the order a very good religion for extablishing a large, stable empire. The synergy with a crusading Bannor is immense, and of course intended. And it has two good heroes.

With the strong focus on order above all else, and martial law (social order, anyone) I'd say Order is more about oppressing tham empowering the little people.
