Okay, I am terrified of spiders. This big bastage has made a web on my back patio. I realize spiders are good for the environment, so I am willing to let bygones be bygones...maybe...and not kill it. But it depends on just what it is. Can someone help me ID this bastard?

Hard to tell from the underside of the spider, but it looks like it may be either an orb weaver spider or marbled orb weaver.
