Anyway, back on topic...If the new civ had to be a Native American civ, I'm not sure what civ I'd pick, but I'd probably pick something on the west coast, as the east coast would probably be crowded if there were the iroquois and another civ.

As for my second choice, after Ethiopia, it's definitely Mali/Songhai/Ghana, there need to be many more African Civilizations.

Why? With ghana/mali/songhay, the carthaginians, egyptians, ethiopes, and perhaps zulus, you have 80% of Africa's noteworth civilizations. I dont see why Nubia, the Azande, or Nigerians deserve to be in more than some other civs (although you have convinced me to want ethipia).

not from me- I seem to be bad luck on them, the only request that was ever done (almost complete too) was abandoned by Vdog....

there should be nubia too, but if there's Ethiopia and Egypt as civilizations, the East Coast of Africa will be crowded, plus, even if the majority of African civs will be covered, there are many more European civs in Civ3 with less space to cover, with the possibility of adding even more. So I don't think that it would be too much of a problem of adding more African Civs.

If there are the Egyptians, Carthaginians, Nubians, Ethiopians, Mali/Ghana/Songhai, and Zulus, in Civ4 or the next Civ3 expansion pack (after C3C), there shouldn't be any need to add more african civilizations. But until then, the African continent will be empty and not have all the civs that deserve to be recognized.

I'm not saying that all the african civs are more noteworthy than other civs, I don't know that much about them to say anything like that. But I do think that they should eventually all be civilizations in Civ4.

I have a feeling the last civ might be another middle-eastern one. True, some African ones are probably missing, but it would seem inconsistent with the others they added to put in an "obscure" one from Africa. It seems the ones they put in go along with the Conquests they added, hence one from the middle-east.

there are conquests from all over the world from all periods of time, and considering the mid east just got 2 new civs, I doubt it- Byzantium is a far better choice

The more I think about it, the more I would be ok with Byzantium being a civ.

On the other hand, basing the civ choices after the conquests was idiotic!! I'd much rather have more important civs than some civs that are important in one or two contents.

Which brings me to another thing.

Do you think the inclusion of Portugal and Netherlands means a colonization scenario is in the works??

that would be very cool I think, mabey a slightley larger then normal world map (smoothed out somehow for speed of turns...), taking out some civs which dont need to be in there (cough-sumeria-cough) and it would be a very nice surprise- and one where I would enjoy both the Portugese, and the ...hells, what are they called...Dutch i think...

I think they fit my rules for a good civ pick very well

-UU that is really Unique
-Fun to play
-have obvious civ traits
-have good historical merit for great achievments, and big roler on the political arena
-and have a unique culture

well name all the criteria for them according to my rules, I too would like Eithiopia, but i cant think of a good UU out side of the ancient era, which is already to crowded, not to mention what traits are they?They miss out on thess points (according to my limited knowledge of the nation)
