The Song of the Moon

Hey, this looks like a cool mod, but does it work in a hotseat multiplayer game? If it does, I think my head might explode from extreme jubilance. If not, it will only explode from extreme happiness of having this.

When you find out let us know. I've never done hotseat with CivIV, but I think people are having some luck with it. So long as everyone has the exact same version you might be fine.

thanks, it was #1... I suspected it should be so, but I didn't find any instructions about it.

No problem. We have a disjointed FAQ on the first page. ;)

*cough* Everyone in a hotseat game will have the same version.

I believe all the python code should work in hotseat mode. There might be some quirks/oversites/things I didn't test related to hotseat, but I doubt it. It has not been tested however, as Woodelf eludes. No issues come to mind, but it's possible that some messages might get sent to the wrong player, or perhaps there might be some sort of getActivePlayer related bug. But given how wholely unreliable that call is, I avoid it like the plague, so I suspect you should be good to go.

Alright for some reason the download quit at about 16k, so I have to redo it (on dial-up), and then do the patch, so its going to be a while before I can report any results on the hotseat usage.

 One fellow dial-upper to another...I feel your pain! I hate that. It's worth it though, trust me. ;)

Yup. It sure does. *opens umbrella* I've played a game with my friend in hotseat on this map, so I know it's good.

Thanks for verifying Drakonik. Did you find your quote yet? :p

The horror shooting through my mind reading your post must mean that I haven't.

Oh right. Ummm... I totally dropped the ball on that one. Now that you've reminded me, I'll be sure to keep hunting for one. Sorry 'bout that.

Very fun to play raging barabrians, and very hard. In 200 years I have killed around 500-750 barbarians. Very hard to expand the country :-).

:D

Do the barbs keep getting better and better units? Are there Plasma Tanks rampaging through your colonies?

Well correction: still on year 180 and maybe 1000 barbarians.
My best units are snipers but building my first UAV Platoon. Barbarian best are Laser Infantery and Rocker Trooper. But they are getting better and better.
I have 1 large, 1 average and 2 small cities on large map. The sea to right and map edge down saved me from getting extinct (I only have to defend 2 borders).
The only unit I have seen from the other civs is 1 scout.

This mod is sweet, you guys did a great job. I can't wait until its completely finished. My brother and I are in the middle of a duel on the moon, but we forgot to set the map size to something small so it's like our two civs and then a huge battlefield littered in resources. It looks like its going to be a long game (but that makes it all the better).

Anyways, I did have one problem, but I don't think it was due to the mod. Whenever we send a message (and this happened when I had some friends over and we continued our vanilla game also), when you try to type in the chat box, the game ends your turn and then if you try to send the message anyways it is sent by the other civ and occasionally the game exits. I took all the mods I had out of the mod folder, and my Custom Assets folder is empty, yet it still happened, so I believe it is a problem with the v1.52 patch. Anyone that can help me?

It's a known problem. I've put this bug to the attention of the developpers. I believe the "end turn when typing a message in diplobox" is solved. Not so sure if the message gets through in all occasions now.

I haven't read all 277 posts here, but I am wondering if things like the mech inf. and tanks have been reskinned with camo to match the moon's terrain. Maybe I should post this on the suggestions thread unless its been said already.

*Whan having wonders that makes a buildings, you can still build that building again in the city.
*Lunar Rover looks ugly and it's strange that it's cheaper than Radio Car.
*Lunar Scout/Radio Car/Lunar rover should be upgradable.
*Too few unit promotions, and they all look the same (add more from my mod).
*Why are there no hills?
*Why are dust seas show sometimes as flat gray and sometimes as light blue water?
*It's more fun to up the max xp limit from barbarians and when you upgrade.

I think that some of the later units do match the terrain a little better. It's tough with only so many models to skin everything different though. It looks like new models are on the way though!
