I too have the slow-down problem, so always music off, SFX on, with a good war movie playing on the TV, or just the radio.

I turn off all music and sounds to try and speed up the gameplay. However, I still get that wacked out bird-chirping thing going on.

Maybe if you go into sounds\ambience sfx\ you can erase the files there...or replace them with blank sound files.

If there is no one else home I will leave the sound on, otherwise I will just turn if off. My least favorire tune is that Kenny G sounding one they play all the time in the Modern Age.

Clearly, The Civilepedia doesn't mention that the downside of the advent of Music Theory in the Modern Age is the rise of Kenny G.

Definately music and sound are always on.

I paid good money for this game and I'm gonna listen to the music that came with the game. I would feel ripped off if I didn't listen to the music that came with the game. :crazyeye:

ALWAYS OFF,
If I play too long, I hear the music in my sleep and wake up in cold sweats thinking that the Romans are at the gates!!!!!

I have it on, God knows how I can listen to it hour after hour, but I voted depends because it drives the girlfriend crazy and she'll kick me in the ear if I don't turn it off when she's in the same room.

Christ what is that tune in the middle ages? I used to love the drums in CivII though.

I leave the music off. The modern age gets really boring quick (it sounds rather familar, though. Sim City? :)).

I always leave the music off, but I like the howling and bird chirps. I always leave on the sound effects, because as was pointed out the best thing about using Armies is the HOO-WAH!! sounds yelled out by the leader to cheer on the troops!

Speakers off...no animated battles, friends' moves, enemy moves, automated moves, manual moves, etc. Basically as simple as it can possibly get.

I leave the sound off because it crash-loops like some others.

However, I sometimes tend to 'hear' music/sound from a game that isn't there.. so I'm not too sure that those bird songs are real.

They could be live bird sounds outside or live birds sounds in your brain, as well..
