The mayor of Delphi hopes the STG will open a branch office or hopefully even the main office of this fine group in our city, as we have 4 spice-tiles in our vincinity.
Also, our city offers the finest recreational areas of whole phoenatica, from snowboarding to surfing, for sport and family.
I believe that trade and culture are the very most important aspects of ouyr civilization. While our military has gotten us to this glorious position, we can now accomplish our goals through trade and culture. With the added gold that trade can provide we can afford to expand our science and culture even more to assure our civilization's place in history.
I would like to propose that we lobby the new governor of Asphinxia to rename the city of Anyang to "Arrakis", and then move our base of operations to that city.
Anyang, it should be noted, is a major oil producer and therefore a place of no small importance where matters of trade are concerned!
Disagree fellow spice member. We need to stay with our roots:the spice.
The spice IS our life.Over centuries we traded spice all over the world. We have this connection to the past when we only had knights and triremes....
Now that we are in the modern ages we need something to connect us with the past:The spice trader guild....
And China has a source of spice. We're at war with China now, and if, through shrewed diplomacy, we get the Zulus on our side, Chinese spice might become Phoenatican spice.
Now that Elephantine has a resource inside the city limits (albeit uranium, but it's *spicy* uranium) I thought I'd open a branch office of the guild, if that's cool.
For those who are unfamilliar with the name Arrakis....
The Economy of the Universe revolves around one single commodity, by which all other transations are measured. No thing it more valued or fought over, not even human life. That thing is Melange, known simply as Spice. Spice is life, Spice is power and spice is only found in one place, the desert city of Arrakis, called Dune. The trade guild and the ruling powers all know that, whoever controls Arrakis controls the Universe.
The Spice must flow....
For those who still have no idea what I am talking about (you get out too much ), the world where spice is the measure of all things is that of Frank Herbert's Dune, a classic sci-fi series. It seems fitting that the spice trader's guild should have a home where spice is life and power!! Eklektikos has suggested that the city of Anyang in Asphinxia be renamed Arrakis and the Spice Traders Guild HQ established there. If this wins a few more advocates I will put it to the vote, as it is an excellent proposal.
The Department of Trade would like to restate it's support of the Spice Traders Guild. The Guild's input would be greatly appreciated in the Department.
Yes, this guild has an ancient history, going back to its' roots in Fox Nest. The actual date is a bit foggy, but estimates put it somewhere between 3500 BC - 2800 BC. Our traders have had a strong history of aiding the economy with spice.
