The stages of the fall of every empire

I think the United States is on Phase 3. In economic terms, the US is still a powerhouse. Not many people deny that China and India will overttake it. The debate is not if but when. However, while I agree that industrial-type jobs, like those in the consumer electronics, manufacturing, and retail industries are dropping off, we're seeing a spike (IIRC) in the finances and business sectors. Finances, business, computer stuff: all hallmarks of the Information Wave, something the United States, Europe, Russia, and other nations have immersed themselves in. I don't think the US is getting stronger (quite the opposite), but it still has a longgg way to go till The Fall.

Judging by the posters in here I think the us is:

6) Moral decline - above mentioned problems make the population cynical, pessimistic and unwilling to support the empire as it used to.

This of course assumes these posters ever supported the us in anything it has ever done.

How does one go through live being so pessimistic about everything around them. Mental Problems.

You should read the notes in order to fully understand the examples.

I already read the notes and the United States does NOT fit into any of them. Dispite how much you want to see the United States fall on it's face .

the USA wont fall on its face, it will be pushed in the mud... by Canada

Buster Keaton made a very successful career--and a LOT of money--from falling on his face.

Don't knock it. :)

Yanks are deffenetly in Phase 4, just check the standings of the dollar and the banking crisis.

The empire does not have to be global, for example Russia should be in the "run as fast as you can" cathegory and having passed to the beginnings of a second life without touching "who cares?" cathegory, according to gangleris list.

Currency appreciation or depreciation doesn't really matter that much in the long run!

Since the US dollar is depreciating against the euro this will drive up our net exports. Foreign countries need to buy our goods in US dollars since we don't take their stinkin' yen, which will drive up demand for dollars again and the dollar will appreciate. We're a big country and part of the G7; these fluctuations in trade and currency cycles shouldn't worry us.

What can i say thanks for that economic advice. Currency appreciation or depreciation may matter in the long run if the thing that is causing problems in currency standards and in result hurts the economy is not averted.
