What would have happened if the Jacobites had succeded? (For the sake of ease, let's say The '45 succeeds)

Would there have been an attempt by The Stuarts to re-introduce Roman Catholicism? What would their good relations with Catholic Europe have done with regards to international politics? How would it have affected The American situation?

'Discuss'.

Actually, it's too hard to predict, but I think that there could appear the inquisition courts, and the USA could become an independent country much, much later. There were a lot of countries, where the church influenced the foreign and domestic policy, the brightest example - Spain, in the majority of cases the colonies that belong to such countries become independent very, very late. And btw the puritans' (sp?) migration to the USA would not have had such a large scale, so maybe the USA as we see it today, as a country of immigrants, could have another look (of a typical "developing" country of Latin America, for example)

Is a good page.

Do an internet search for The Stuarts, or failing that, look it up in Encarta, if you have it.
