The Sun Stands Still

"Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day." (Joshua 10:12-13)


These verses imply that the sun moves around the earth. If the Bible actually represents the words or inspired words of God, then why didn't the Great Creator inspire them to tell the truth about the universe and our solar system?

We know that even if the Sun stands still, it will still appear to be moving to an observer from earth, because the rise and set of the sun is due to the revolution of the Earth around its own axis. Revolution of Earth around the Sun results in the 4 seasons.

For the sun to have stood still, it must be that the Earth stopped its revolution, which will be disaster, everything on earth will be thrown into space.
Also, the Bible asks us to believe that a supposedly loving God made the sun stand still for the sole purpose of helping the Israelites slaughter the Amorites. How can one not see that these verses would insult the intelligence of any person who believes God possess wisdom, knowledge and love?

You'd have to ask him. Personally, I think he told us what we needed to know at the time, and left out what we could find out on our own. I mean he could have told Adam about electrons and photons and Quantum Mechanics, but it would have just messed with his head and not done any good.

The African Americans talk funny, and are stupid, they practice voodoo at times. They don't deserve any mercy. Kill them, and enslave them, god wanted us to the masters. Now I understand why slavery was abolished in Eastern countries thousands of years ago, while in the west it endured to the 19th century. Or why the Europeans are so exceedingly efficient at wiping a whole continent of population.
