And, that's everything! I'm done! I've uploaded every image in the story that I managed to save, including some of things like maps and histographs that were outside the actual chapters but just posted by me in the thread. I've also put all the chapter titles back in. Along the way, I tried to fill in details about images that I couldn't recover. Sometimes the edits were minor and I didn't note them, but there's also places where I'm doing a lot more edits and guessing, and leave an explicit note in there basically saying "I don't know exactly what was in this image, but this is what I think it was"
I mostly didn't change other things- a few minor edits here and there to fix things that were factually wrong (like, me naming the wrong city or giving the wrong direction or something) but left in minor mistakes. I also made two changes related to the Internet: First, I decided to move my picture of me building the Internet into the final chapter instead of the postgame pics because I think it belongs there anyway (I was probably originally intending to put it there). Second, while reading through my other points, I found a part in chapter 46 which referenced some information traveling via the Internet in the story- which didn't actually make sense, because the Internet didn't actually exist in the game for another 20 years, so I just cut that part out.
But other than that, the story is the same as ever. I figure if this story is in the top 20 most viewed threads, then I must have been doing something right 12 years ago! Feels weird looking back on it now- people liked my writing, but I know I can do much better than I could when I was 13, and I can't help but cringe a bit at 13-year-old me making spelling and grammar errors every other sentence, constantly interrupting the narration to over-explain things or break the 4th wall to make corny references or jokes, or spending seemingly half my posts outside the actual story (and some
in the actual story) whining about how I never have time for anything and my mom won't let me use the computer all day. Stop whining, past me, ya darn whipper-snapper! You're in middle school, you don't know the meaning of not having time to do things you want to do!
