Yeah it seems like the AI are prone to declaring war together. Especially against a large civ.

So have you figured out the mystery conqueror yet? Is it Napoleon, Dido, or neither?

Russia has a habit of settling in places and then failing to defend them. My advice to you would be to spam Landsknechts like there's no tomorrow and try to get a city in the peace treaty.

Despite engaging in a conflict with Russia, Bismarck founded the German settlement of Frankfurt on a small island nearby Berlin.

Despite giving the American government a haven, Washington was still frightened by the prospect of German expansion. (I expanded further away from him than any of my other cities are I think. >.>)

Military Affairs

All is calm on the border for the most part. A Russian pikemen probes the German defensive line.

Having found out whatever she wished, Catherine ordered her troops march on Cologne. Sejong joined in on the war, helping Bismarck.

The Russian troops were great in number and began swarming into German lands.

As Bismarck began pulling up his reserve forces to combat Catherine, Napoleon and Dido both declared war on Russia.

After defending against Russian troops in the north, Catherine began the siege of Cologne.

Valiant German forces successful broke the siege and began to regroup for a counter-attack.

German forces began a siege against the city of Bryansk with very few Russian forces nearby to defend.

While Bismarck's troops were bogged down outside the walls of Bryansk, Catherine began to organize another attack on Cologne.

With Russian forces outside the gates of Cologne and his soldiers being battered outside Bryansk, Bismarck had no choice to advance his troops to further victory and to defend Cologne.

Seeing that both sides had suffered enough, Catherine offered a peace deal. Bismarck accepted knowing that it would be very fragile but that it would give him time to gather his strength.

And that looked like a pretty good formation for an AI attacking your city, where apparently there was a musketman that was killed off by your landsneckt.

Are you going in for another attack once the treaty ends?

Domestic Affairs

Bismarck enacted a policy emphasizing the importance of soldiers to follow a basic set of guidelines. This helped to increase recruitment and led to the rise of one of the greatest generals in German history.

Bismarck ordered the construction of the Oracle in order to increase the culture and technological skill his empire.

Construction of the Oracle completed with no complications.

Bismarck began a policy of rationalism in the empire.

The Russian-Korean War ended quite badly for Catherine as well with Sejong making hefty advances.

Napoleon signed a peace treaty along with many of the other powers fighting Catherine. Napoleon was still bloodthirsty however and sought to fight Carthage.

Bismarck declined Napoleon's offer and actually signed an open declaration of friendship with Dido.

After refusing to join in on French efforts to join in on an attack against Carthage, Bismarck soon received a report from American spies saying that the French were planning an attack on the former Aztec capital.

For reasons we will never understand, many began declaring war on a landless Austrian "Empire".

German agents in Moscow discovered bits of interesting information relating to Russia's relationship with other countries.

Despite never meeting Pachacuti on the battlefield, a peace treaty in which he offered the German Empire wealth was brought up. Bismarck accepted.

Montezuma declared war on the Americans.

Montezuma reclaimed the formerly Aztec city.

Military Affairs

After the expiration of the peace treaty Catherine protested the stationing of German troops near the border.

Bismarck declared war on Catherine in response and so began the second Russian-German War.

German soldiers swarmed both border settlements.

Bryansk was the first to fall. With Bismarck's southern forces free to move northward, he began attacking the other city.

Catherine offered a completely one-sided peace agreement before Bismarck captured any additional cities. This proposal was an insult to Bismarck and he promised himself he'd be as brutal as possible to Catherine.

Krasnoyarsk soon fell.

Bismarck's forces continued advancing on Russian cities.

Khabarovsk fell. Tver' was the last city standing. And it soon fell.

The German Empire had grown from ocean to ocean. Very little remained on the continent capable of threatening Bismarck.

Yeah I think they lost all there cities too now. I don't get why everyone hates them.

And if I can't win I want Sejong to win too. Napoleon is really running away though

Considering it. Don't want the cities that much. I want a very weak AI or AIs between me and the rest of the continent. Might replace the Aztecs with Siam and Washington then expand to their borders to make them go towards Sejong.

A sense of humanism and equality began to grow in the German Empire with Bismarck's efforts to take the country down a path of rationalism.

Along with this came secularism in the public sector.

The Brandenburg Gate was completed in Berlin. This increased combat effectiveness of Bismarck's forces.

With the launching of a German Caravel, so began the Age of Exploration.

The Second German-Russian War ended with Catherine agreeing to a peace deal put forth by Bismarck.

Napoleon continued his warmongering and declared war on Carthage.

Sejong also declared war on Carthage alongside Napoleon.

Because of a defensive pact between Germany and Carthage, Bismarck was now at war with Napoleon. They never engaged in combat however and quickly made a peace agreement.

The city of Cartage soon fell to French forces.

Bismarck stationed agents in Paris in order to keep up on Napoleon's movements.

German-French relations improve with the signing of a research agreement.

Peace with Catherine following the Third "War".

Warmongering in a far away land.

Meeting with Genghis Khan, a man of no cities.

Nobody is certain, but Bismarck SWEARS he didn't pay Napoleon about 100 gold and some horses to declare war on several other empires.

The last Carthaginian city fell.

Sejong wanted to attack Catherine with German help. Sensing an opportunity to mend German-Korean relations, Bismarck accepted, with no real intention of engaging Catherine in combat however.

The founding of an Aztec city near their former capital was unacceptable to Bismarck.

However a deal was reached before war was the only option on the table and Bismarck bought the city. And immediately burnt it to the ground.

Sejong sought German help to wage war against Russia once more. Bismarck decline this time.

A French battleship annihilating Russian forces.

Seeing that Russia was being crushed by French forces, Bismarck organized a peace agreement.

Russian city founded south of the German Empire. Bismarck kept an eye on the city at all times.

Bismarck was none to pleased with the founding of an Aztec city nearby.

So he quickly took the city, temporarily named it "New Berlin", and razed it.

Montezuma swiftly demanded peace. Bismarck accepted. Gaining land from the treaty.

Bismarck sold the Aztec city to Siam. Who had no city at this point.

Aztec forces quickly rushed in and took the Siamese refuge however.

Pachacuti and Catherine both declared war on the German Empire at this point for reasons historians still do not understand.

Bismarck struck a deal with Sejong to declare war against the Inca.

I noticed that some of the French cities were Shintoist. Who founded it? Is Oda somewhere in that fog of war surrounded by France (or at the very least, "Le Kyoto")? If so, I'm supporting him. Otherwise, who founded it? Babylon?

Also, if I were you, I would have held on to Tlaxcala or given it to a better defended civ than Siam. If you wanted to help Siam you should have taken both Tlaxcala and Muang Saluang and then given both to them (or given some of your Russian claims to them).

I think that's the first time I've ever seen an AI sell a city in peace time.

And btw, I'm curious as to why you paid France to make peace with Russia.

I still have two unmet civs that have lost their capitals. We'll see eventually.

And about Tlaxcala, yeah I messed up. I'll probably look into taking both the cities later. Right now I'm going to be working towards building a nice navy to run a massive campaign against Napoleon and liberate several cities and probably take Paris for leverage in negotiating peace. That is probably 100-200 turns away though.

@Heerlo: I don't want Napoleon becoming more powerful, I thought that all the civs fighting him might stand a chance but nope. I'll probably liberate those Russian cities at some point. We'll see.

I disable all but domination and maybe even domination. It still keeps track of capitals under victory progress though. If so, looks like mass-genocide against the other civs will be my only option.

Probably a good thing too because Napoleon is WAY ahead in everything.

I'm actually a bit worried.

He has about 900k army size, I have about 100k.

Bismarck determine during this time to expand his foreign relations and opened up friendly talks with the city-state of Lhasa.

Another French settlement near the German Empire.

Korean capture of an Incan city.

Sejong wishing to attack Montezuma, Bismarck's buffer.

Korean-German research agreement to further improve relations begun during this period.

Russian settlement near the German Empire, south of the French settlements.

Russian settlements in the far north.

A German submarine stumbled upon a French battlegroup escorting Babylonians.

Military Affairs

Bismarck moved forces to capture the Russian city of Chita to the south.

Incan ships on the German coast. German forces in the formerly Russian cities fought them off with ease.

A peace agreement with Russia at last.

Incan soldiers marching upon Chita.

Bismarck organized the Korean entry into the war.

Chita fell under siege.

Chita fell to Incan forces with German infantry trapped behind enemy lines.

Bismarck, knowing that he could not take back Chita, created a defensive along on the Russian frontier. Bismarck gave the order to fight to the last man until reinforcements could arrive. The World sat on the edge of its seat watching, waiting for the Incan attack.

But it never came and Pachacuti begged for peace, overestimating German power and willingness to secure Chita.

Russian-Aztec declaration war on Germany.

German forces moved northward preparing for an invasion of the Aztec capital.

Bismarck's troops began a siege against the city.

German troops were utterly battered by Aztec defenses but the arrival of a German landship division turned the tide.

Bismarck reinstalled the Siamese government

German forces then moved to attack the final Aztec settlement.

Despite German forces begin only a few miles away, Aztecs wielding pikes were able to seize Muang Saluang (Literally one turn after I moved away, the infantry I gave to Siam for defense. God Damnit Siam).
