No other mods accept the ones from Firaxis ... i did edit features in the core game for stepwell giving it faith and production
 
Are you using any UI mods with ToT? If you are you need to disable them.
No other mods accept the Firaxis mods ... I did edit improvements in the core game for the stepwell giving it faith and production ... I changed that back though same error.

so far only big mess with with icons.
why not put dependency on moar. Less work needed for update.
 
No UI mods will work with Test of Time since I included most of NQUI into it in 1004. Detailed Worlds is also included. As Gekko says TCS Omnibus is incompatible.
i'm using that version now but don't see any of NQUI features it's the same as vanilla UI?

Been playing ToT (1003) now for quite some time. 380 turns with a lot of it being wartime for reasons I'll get into.

I absolutely love the pacing of how slow the eras progress and slowly units gets phased out, but at the same time you have a lot to do with the extra research, buildings and just general expanding/war.

I've run into some bugs which are probably just down to the early state of the mod, like names/icons of units gets mixed up sometimes in messages and tooltips, seemingly at random. Cogs and gunboats looking identical is a bit annoying. But it's not something I'm bothered by much as it doesn't effect the gameplay.

Now the real issues I've run into essentially boil down to one basic problem. It's how units without maintenance cost are handled by the AI. They spam them as fast as they can build them and wallpaper the entire world with them due to time and production being really abundant in ToT.
I have both Sumeria and Aztec AI in my game and Sumeria was on my continent, so I had to take care of them while I still could. Even then by the time I had a decent force of pikemen and knights (amazon cavalry), I was up against a horde of 100-150 war-carts which were constantly refilled every turn until the point I had taken over half of their cities. Thankfully I had a good choke point after I took their closest two cities, otherwise I think I would still be in that war. Spent over 10 actual hours just in that war.
Next hurdle I have to "fix" is the Kabul city-state spamming scouts. They can't do it as fast as Sumeria, but I'm already getting blocked in at places. So it looks like I'll have to throw away my envoys I have with them and wipe them out before they become a real problem.
Eventually I'll have to deal with the Aztecs on the other continent. They got a massive lead early by zerging a lot of the civs over there with their maintenance-less eagle warriors.

An easy fix would be to just not have units without maintenance cost. Even scouts.
 
I have also really like this mod, reminds me of rise of man for civ 4. But I am also experiencing long turn times, I do have the increased water yields mod on just to let you know, but the first turns seemed fine, and the regular version seemed to run fine.

But, as a side note, did you combine mods for more units or design units yourself? I only ask because one day I hope civ 6 will be as deep as rise of man became.
 
As great a mod as this is, it seems it is now dead. Still, thanks to Horem for all the great work he put into it.
 
Glad to hear you're not giving up on the mod. Have you thought about a religion overhall, perhaps by including something like JFD's rule with faith, obviously with consideration of compatibility? I think your mod is the most complete I've played in terms of just pure enjoyment of the game.

I think the new update may have broken this mod... Anyone else having issues? Cannot start a new game with the mod enabled nor load a game where this mod was enabled.
 
I have been running this mod since before, and then after the Dec updates without a problem. Now as of today, when I try to load a saved game or resume, or also if I try to start a new game with TOT enabled, it looks like it will load a game, the screen says "STARTING GAME", and then the system bails and takes me back to the main menu. I have discovered the problem only occurs when using the Test of Time v1003 mod. If I turn it off, I can start a new game. If it is enabled, even if it is the only mod enabled, I get the return to main menu I mentioned instead of the game starting. Very strange since I had been running since the Dec 21 update almost daily without a problem until today. So any clue what changed today? I love the mod, and would hate to lose it. Please advise what data you might need to assist. Version/Build says 1.0.0.110 (253607). A new message is at the bottom on the main menu that had not been there previously discussing the "Australian Summer update", and a new "my2K" logo bottom right with a "link Account" hyperlink. Did something happen to my build and I can roll back? Or can you patch this thing to resolve?
 
The new patch HAS killed this mod (at least for me and INAUXAS). Horem, any clue when we could expect an update to overcome the challenge of the patch? Alternatively, does anyone know a way to uninstall the latest patch so that TOT will function until it is updated?
 
Yeah, it's not just this mod. I was using another total conversion alternately and it's busted too. I'm wondering what Fraxis pushed out in this latest update that caused so many issues. On top of all that, they didn't release a map editor! The gall! :-P

I'm just gonna give these guys time to fix whatever Fraxis did. Time for some Stellaris!
 
When we start using a mod like Test of Time that we wind up falling in love with, it changes the game experience for us in such a positive way, we cannot go back. It would be like playing Civ 5 or 4 or 3 again. Once you go to a new version, it seems we never go back. When a patch comes out and Steam uploads it without choice, and gives us no opportunity to uninstall the patch - it is the equivalent of Firaxis deciding to alter the game to the worse without giving their customers an option to say "no thanks". It is just wrong. I hope Firaxis sees and heeds this request which I am sure is shared by many to make patches optional, and also reversible so that their customer has a choice of the new patch or mods they liked, until the mod maker can create an update for the new patch (if they so decide to). So Firaxis, any chance you'll give us an option to roll-back this mod killing patch? Comments welcome...
 
Very sad the fact that for some reason it doesn't work for me (v100110)
Game just doesn't start, eternal loading.
 
I find heaps of errors in Database.log related to missing buildings and I strongly believe this is the reason why no game starts for me. Am I missing some critical information?

Tested a modded setup with 1003 and 1004 beta 4, no difference.

I'm using a version from the workshop which was uploaded on 1st March and then removed less than a day later, but it appears to work fine. I don't know what's going on around here but hopefully it'll be reuploaded soon.
