- I don't sell my resources at all to other civ
- On the easier difficulties I get enough cash with large empire using Markets, Commerce and Banks etc.
- I don't siege cities
- I have rarely ever used siege units like catapults, i usually stay advanced to the other cities and attack them with my Riflemen.
- I never ally with Maritime CS.
- I find their bonus pointless, it doesn't seem to affect my game at all, I still manage to win, like before, due to difficulty.

What things do you do that you shouldn't/should be doing?

Well, since I tend to play on immortal and deity, I pretty much have to do everything that I can to compete with the overly boosted AI. However, there are a few things that I don't do which I should do and things that I do but I shouldn't do.

Things that I should do but I don't:
- Changing the tile improvements that AI has made (due to happiness reasons)
- Sometimes I ignore diplomacy. It isn't a very good idea on deity, especially when you are one of the smallest nations.

Things that I do but I shouldn't:
- I tend to rob all the gold from AI before declaring a war. It's kinda cheating but useful.
- Robbing workers from citystates. It sometimes causes the AIs to hate me early on.
- Reloading if my tactics fail big time. This wastes my time since a reaload can take up to 15 minutes on my laptop.
- Wasting units on hopeless attack attempts just to try my luck.

I usally wipe out anoying civs like that ...... boy alexander And see him praying to the gods when I take his last city haha (I get a warmonger penalty but who cares)

And if Siam or elizabeth is in my game I will wipe them out as fast as possible

-I don't specialise individual cities, i.e. one gold city, one production etc.
-I don't build enough units (there are so many buildings!)
-I tend to sacrifice other aspects of my game for science

I also don't specialise my cities, I don't think it's needed, all I ever do is go Production during Wonder building times.

This is a little more 'meta' than I think you're looking for, but...one thing I do that I shouldn't is playing the exact same kind of game over and over and over. (Prince or King, huge/marathon, builder/Wonder-heavy strategy, and disabling the Time victory so I can go forever.) I have such an amazing blast with this kind of sandbox experience that I have put no effort whatsoever into exploring other aspects of the game: playing as a warmonger; playing scenarios; playing different map sizes or speeds (or difficulties); etc. This has been the case from Civ III all the way on down.

It's a game, and as long as I'm having fun I guess I'm "doing what I should," but...sometimes I feel like I should branch out a little and appreciate the game from different points of view. But I just LOVE playing this style so much...

Ouch, good subject.

- Too few RAs. Believe it or not, I do just fine without them, up to Emperor and even Immortal at times. It's not like I don't sign any, I just sign much fewer than I know I could

- Manual citizen assignment. Production focus is all I really do. Only occasionally I shuffle my citizens around (i.e. when the city is starving)

- Properly wage war when I have the upperhand. With "properly" I mean unit formation, taking care of my higher ranked units, consolidation, etc. I tend to get sloppy when I am steamrolling (or think I do). This comes back to haunt me later if the campaign stretches out

- Build Units. As Someonelikehim said, there's too many buildings!

- Build cities!! I yet have to learn to properly expand. I barely get past a second or third city because in the beginning I have more important things to build (or so I tell myself) than settlers, and later on there's no use. Oh boy do I need a rehaul of my tactics ;)

Despite all this, I still dominate every Emperor game and do fairly well on Immortal (about 50:50 lately)

Amen. I tend to gravitate towards the same civs (about a third of my leaders I haven't even touched yet, and I am well clocking in above 500 hours) and the same tactics. There was a time where I forced myself to win every game domination with different leaders, but then I quickly fell back to the same leader and the same strategies (usually science or culture).

I keep playing the same two to four Civs all the time, and don't play the others enough.

I forget to turn combat animation off at the beginning then regret it later on.
I never sell OpenBorders for cash unless I think the AI might actually want it.
I also don't use many research agreements and trade strategic resources sloppily. I tend to buy buildings far too often.

I don't play as France - ever (in all Civs :P)

I think that's kinda how I do.Sometimes I don't have that big of army and don't have a lot of land but I 'm just advanced.

And then if I go to war it's my small, advanced army VS a big, but less advanced, AI army.

Make naval invasions of other civs even if they are super-powerful and need killing;

Invade civs more than one at a time;

Invade civs that are not neighbours (I usually invade everybody, but I always start with one neighbouring civ at a time and work through them - you can't trust any of them for open borders or as allies)

I don't explore enough after I've discovered my immediate surroundings. I don't do enough to explore far away civs or around the ocean. Sometimes I find myself trading with civs that I have no idea where their borders are.

I should learn more about AI inter-relationships. Read more about global politics and try to decorticate useful informations. I often deny diplomacy and almost always respond to a question with the ''i don't care'' response(i.e. : none of your business, we settle where we want, etc.).

Probably because in mp games i don't need so much of these types of informations.

I learned how to get the most of AI :c5gold: though.

I don't play enough games to the finish, I usually start another game around turn 200-250. I might've won some of them.

I don't do enough RA's and when I do I forgot all about them. I want a timer for those nasties, even if you look every turn and then you get distracted, "Ding" on the wrong tech.

Same here. I don't sign RAs in games where I'm a warmongerer because the RAs annoy me when I have to wait for them to finish before I can DOW some civ. I also tend to avoid them in other type of games since I've seen the AI betray me far too many times to actually be eager to waste the gold to sign the RAs.
