The Witcher

Well you could have been clear about that in your post, as it is it looks like you didn't read the thread at all. Checking again it does list 5 more fixes, so the lists are ALMOST the same. My link to google images works for me but you can always try this link.

The multiple potion fix is a pretty important fix (which I bolded) imo. I could just as well post the whole list of fixes.

Thanks, the new link works, but I was more curious about the specific bug. She strikes a T-pose.. sounds peculiar...

A massive patch (sounds like it will be more of an upgrade as it will be version 2.0) has been announced, although no details are being released until Gamescon in Germany.

It's cool that they are still going to be supporting it. But to be honest ever since I beat it I haven't had any desire to play it again whatsoever. For me, the first game was just way better, whenever I want to get my Witcher on I will almost definitely be playing the first game instead of the second.

It's worth playing as both sides as there's a ton more content to see that way. But I agree in some aspects, I have little desire to play more than twice. But if they add enough new content, I may play again next year. For now the story is still too familiar.

I'm not sure if I'll play the first game again. There were a few things that irritated me in that game (billions of drowners LOL). But maybe I'll play that again next year too.

I don't usually play RPGs (or other campaign stories in games like FPS) back to back either (although I did with Metro 2033 and Mass Effect 1 & 2) and I started my 2nd playthrough but have not really been in an RPG mood lately. And with this announcement I'm going to hold off until the update (I have to install it again anyway since I'm on Win7 now). Though TW2 is also longer than Mass Effect but not as long as TW1 (which is why I haven't replayed it yet).

Polish indie dev CD Projekt RED brought the pain this week with fresh details on the 2.0 update for The Witcher 2 as well as details on a host of new promotions to get players into their game. The 2.0 update will be available on September 29th and will include a new tutorial system, a Dark mode (almost as hard as Insane difficulty but allows saves), The Arena, an arcade mode with Facebook integration where players will face waves of enemy hordes. The update will be free and its features will also be rolled into the Xbox 360 version scheduled for release in Q1 2012.

As for the aforementioned discounts, The Witcher 2 is currently on sale through Steam for $29.99. CD Projekt’s own online outlet GoG.com will have a DRM-free version available at that price point beginning Sept 29th and both sales will run through Oct 6th. The retail version of The Witcher 2 is also seeing a price cut to $39.99.
Patch 2.0 will be released the 29th. Best game the last few years imo.

It's cool that they're doing an Enhanced Edition for this game just like the first one. But... I have to stand by my comment from 8 months ago. Even after this much time has passed, I still think the first game was better and would rather play that. But I am invested in the story of Geralt so I might have to replay the second one now just to see the new content they are adding, in case it's an important bit of lore.

It's cool they are still supporting it, although honestly I'm ready for The Witcher 3.

So I've just bought The Witcher 2 this week and I'm really having troule with the damn Kayran.
I have the trap and I drank the mongoose potion, but can't beat the thing even after changing difficulty to eaysy. I'm supposed to trap the tentacles with Yrden, but it only seems to reliably work two or three times. After that works rarely, and after it's down to 1/4 HP it doesn't seem to work at all.
I stand at the exact same spot where I cast the sign and dodge at the very last moment. Even if I let myself get hit on purpose Yrden fails. Am I doing something wrong, is the fight supposed get progressively harder, am I just unlucky or is it just poor collision detection (which should have been fixed by now, I'm playing the EE).
My impression is that this is a great game, but dificulty is a bit screwed up. On easy everything is too easy (except the Kayran and sometimes the Endrega Queens) but on normal the fights can be brutal.

I'd like to help but I really don't remember what I did in that fight and what has changed (I have reinstalled and updated to the EE but I haven't had time to play yet). You'll probably need to consult a guide or something, although I don't know if anything with that fight has really changed with the EE. I do remember the difficulty spiking occasionally though.

I was having a hard time too until I realised that I needed to look up to see when the Kayran was lifting up its tentacle to hit me. Then cast Yrden and get out of there. I think Yrden doesn't always work, but if you keep doing that, you'll get it eventually without loss of hp.

I watched a youtube video of it. :D

Seriously it is a good idea to watch it on youtube. Turned out I was not trapping the tentacle in the right spot. And you can't trap the middle tentacles, or maybe you can, but you don't need to destroy the fleshy part on those (they don't have a part to destroy). I was wasting my time messing with the middle tentacles and getting my butt whooped in the process.

And then after you do that, I had no idea where to run. The video helped with that too. It's kind of a pita fight, but the next boss isn't doesn't really require watching any videos (although he can be tricky until you find the optimum strategy).

I killed the thing.
The last two tentacles can't be trapped and hacked off, and I didn't hammer the mouse button enough during the QTE.
Guide dang it.

The tutorial was OK, it's just that boss fight I had problems with.
Doesn't help that the thing attacks immediately and you're already half dead if you don't dodge right after the cutscene.
