Welcome saploft, Turan Ummah is not taken at this moment. However, currently I have been in discussions with a former player for control of the nation, and as it is a major power, would not recommend it. I'd suggest following the advice that's been presented. A nation in Iberia or West Africa will allow for a lot more freedom plus it would help you learn how things work on a much smaller scale. Work with one of the small nations for a few years, and switch to something larger once you feel more comfortable. Just send me a Private Message if you've got any detailed questions on background.

the ERF has had High Altitude Bombers and Advanced Computing Machines for a while now. How else did we get SAMs. But we aren't listed as having either of those techs.

Yeah, the ERF has had those bombers and it's been annoying that we've not been listed as having them. To me, anyway.

@saploft: As you can see, it's really quite simple. One thing to remember about NESing is that anything is possible, so to increase Base IC there are a number of ways.

1. Invest in Private Enterprise, as Justo said, which will provide excellent returns in the long run.

2. Invest in Public, which can be tricky. Before WWIII, the Soviets had very much luck with Public IC and nearly doubled their production capacity, but afterwards it didn't do much for them. The best thing is to consult EQ on how best your nation can advance potentially.

3. Take land. Obviously this option has the most repercussions, but having large colonies/fertile land can make a significant difference.

4. Engage in free trade deals with other nations.

5. Enforce tariffs on goods your nation excels at producing. Consult EQ about this.
