The Xbox Thread

i got one, with Star Wars KOTOR, and Xhibition disc, and Conflict Desert Storm II

Star Wars is the best by far though

The Xbox doesn't appeal to me, since I don't have Broadband internet and don't care abotu that much better graphics. I would like Halo, but there doesn't seem to be many good exclusive games (besides Halo and KOTOR, but I don't play RPG's much). I don't have the money to get one anyway even if I wanted it.

That's my $0.02.

Xbox has alot of good points in my book. You really only need broadband for Xbox Live, and the majority of games dont ever support Live anyway. Halo is a wonderful game, specially if you have lots of friends that have Xboxs so you can play system-link.
The internal hard drive is an incredable feature, to the point that if a game is released for both Xbox and GC, i'll buy the Xbox version to keep from having to get additional memory cards. The Xbox also has the ability of rip music to the hard disk (i have 8 cds on mine and tons of game saves and still have 50000+ blocks of hard drive space). KOTOR is a great game, and this is from someone who hates RPG's. Halo 2 is about to come out and here is a list of other good exclusive titles (w/ link to Gamespot reviews):

AirForce Delta Storm (very underrated)
Counter-Strike (i know it was orignally on the PC, but this one is improved)
Dead or Alive 3
Morrowind

Also, games that are released across all 3 platforms are normally better on Xbox according to reviewers.

uhhh, Morrowind and Counter-Strike are not exclusive to xbox. Neither are Halo and KOTOR. All are available for pc. Halo and KOTOR were the only reasons I would have ever wanted an xbox. Now that they're on pc, I doubt I will ever get one, even if I could afford it.

The X-Box is the most powerful game system on the market to date.
  • Best CPU - 733MHz (400MHz - GameCube)
  • Best Graphics Processor - 250MHz (202.5MHz - GC)
  • Most RAM - 64MB (43MB - GC)
  • Most Memory Bandwidth - 6.4GB/sec (3.2GB/sec - GC & PS2)
  • Polygon Performance - 125million/sec (66 million/sec - PS2)
  • Broadband Enabled
  • HDTV support
  • Max Resolution - 1920x1080 (1280x1024 - PS2)
About the only place that the X-Box suffers at the hands of the competition is in DVD playback which requires an optional component compared to the PS2 which offers it standard. That and the number of titles available - PS2 has quite an advantage in that respect.

My X-Box was a gift and I only have a few titles for it. My personal favorites are Halo, Morrowind and NCAA Football 2004. I'd recommend this system over any of the competition hands down.

PS. Welcome to the club Wildfire. :goodjob:

They are exclusive to Xbox from the console perspective. I know they are all PC games also ;)

Edit: An Xbox is cheaper they buying a really strong PC anyway.

Well thats alright then. :) Yes its cheaper, but I'd prefer the pc just because there are more games I want to play.

The other consoles also lack a hard drive :mischief:

The hdd for the ps2 is out in Japan I believe, dunno about anywhere else. Although I think its coming here soon, as ps2 online is sposed to be here this summer.

The Xbox hard drive comes standard though. Of course, so did PS2's DVD feature.

I'd prefer the PC also, but if your low on cash, Xbox isnt a bad alternative for those titles. (like my PC would have trouble running Halo PC or KOTOR).

Not to start a console war but...:mischief:...those specs are inaccurate. Both the Xbox and the GameCube have several processors.

Odd, I've already battle rakgrouls yet still havent gotten to the swoop race. Im on my way to steal the bike now.

i thought i was about to swoop race, but yes i got killed by the Rancor so i stopped playing for today.......POS

Star Wars KOTOR is a great game. I beat it in about 38 hours though. :) I started again and got to about 20 hours in and quit. The first swoop race is real easy...All you do is beat a time that's east to beat, the somehow they beat you. THen you race one more time and if you beat that (easy) something else happens. (I'm not going to blow it for you. :p

BTW, the swoop racing isn't really a race...you just try to get the best time going on a track...by yourself.

The game is great though. You'll like the other planets. :D

Yet the other companies aren't losing money on every console sold. :mischief:
