Hi to everybody , I’m from Spain and I’m new here. I started this so called GOTM game to give it a try. I played the first 4000 years BC. I had troubles with the ranging hordes because I’m used to play without (only villages), so they cough me by surprise; I had no defences at all. I also saved the game at 1 AD, do I have to send it somewhere to make it official? Here follows the main events during this long (but fast) period:

4000 BC- Capital Karakorum founded
Between- One warrior starts exploring the island
3200 BC- Discovery of Alphabet
Between- Samarkand founded
2400 BC- Discovery of Writing
1650 BC- Discovery of Code of Laws
1450 BC- Bokhara founded
1250 BC- Nishapur founded
1250 BC- Barbarians appears near Nishapur (2x chariots)
1150 BC- Barbarians takes Nishapur
1100 BC- Our warrior destroys Nishapur and becomes a veteran
925 BC- We pay 50 gold to the barbarians to save Samarkand
900 BC- Discovery of Literacy
725 BC- Kasghar founded were Nishapur was
650 BC- Barbarians disembark south of Bokhara
475 BC- Tabriz is founded
450 BC- Aleppo is founded
425 BC- One barbarian archer is bribed by our diplomat expending 61 gold
300 BC- Discovery of Republic and revolution. Also the first irrigation completed
225 BC- The Republic is formed
100 BC- Discovery of Ceremonial Burial
75 BC- Aztecs builds the Pyramids
1 AD- First temple constructed at the capital. Population: 190.000 (4th) and 6 cities

Welcome to CFC and GOTM! Most of us just post our comments or logs in the Spoiler thread each month. Keep the AD1 save and send it with an AD1000 save and a save just before finishing.

Barbs are a curse as well as a blessing, if you are prepared. You followed an Early Republic tech path, so you got Write near the time they first can "spawn" on their own (3200BC), so you should have built a Diplomat and reserved 60-80 gold for bribing if they show up. Bribe one of them, fortify him somewhere with a terrain bonus so he can withstand the second's attack, then "capture" (attack) the Barb Leader in the clear and you will get some "ransom" gold in return. At Raging Hordes you get 150g "ransom", which more than pays for the original bribe, but the Leader will stack with one of the attackers (which prevents a second bribe) so you need to withstand his attack before you can go after the Leader.

1995 AD- The first SS Modules completed and the Space Ship is launched already; It will arrive at year 2014 with a chance of success of 96%
1996 AD- Discovery of Mobile Warfare
1998 AD- Discovery of Robotics. Barrack Program completed. Fist Armor constructed
2000 AD- Discovery of Stealth
2001 AD- Kabul completes the Manhattan Project. Two transports full with war machines departs from Samarkand direction the Japanese mainland
2002 AD- Discovery of Combined Arms. We make an sneaky attack to the Japanese taking Nagasaki and we become again the most populated civilization in the world
2003 AD- Discovery of Fusion Power. Fall of Osaka (Sun Tzu)
2004 AD- Japanese launch their Space Ship and will arrive at 2012! One of our full loaded transport sinks after Japanese naval attack!

I decided to stop, I lost the game, I have not the means to destroy the Japanese Space Ship. It was not an easy game, the game went very fast and development and science very slow, the island limited my expansion, many barbarians, no hills in our territory troubled our production rate, the Japanese were very aggressive, and the hostile attitude of the other civs didn’t lead to mutual cooperation.
