Who is in control of these freakin condom ads. It is not only annoying, but I find it inappropriate. Can't you guys get some decent ads, maybe for PTW?

I will sent and email to UGO and see if they can change them to some other ads.

Steve I have posted a similar thread regarding the AD's a few days ago. I also feel they are bad for the site.

Some update:

The ad manager at UGO replied to my email saying they have been scheduling this ad for late night hours because they figure the kids should be in bed by then.

I guess we can try to tolerate those ads... UGO doens't seem to have a good supply of "healthy" ads. :p

Do they know what your time zone is to determine late night hours?
If so could we rig it so those ads go to a spot when we don't post?

Don't they know Civ is played by a lot more than just americans!! It isn't evening time for everyone right now, it is for me. Some kids aren't ready to log on until it's nightime here and the condom ads are already flying......why don't you send UGO a more *firm* letter :D :D :D :D

I'm sure lots of advertisers would love to get a share of CFC hits.

Well, it's in the middle of the afternoon and I'm seeing that America's best condom ad down there. :crazyeye:

Bah, doesn't bother me one bit.... Just an ad. ;)

I have been getting them all day long..... Morning, Noon, and Night.

But at least they're only showing those ads at night, THANK GOODNESS. :D:p ;)

Actually I'm getting these adds all day long as well. I live on the west coast of NA and I'm seeing these around noon and when i come back from the U at around 3-5, aswell as in the evening.

I don't find them offensive. but it hurts to think why they'd post those adds at a computer game forum, it would make more sense at a porno site, unless ofcourse these adds are effecting all tellefragged, or whoever is the server now, sites.

Let me reword my hastily written and poorly worded statement- But at least they're only showing those ads when it's night somewhere. :mischief:

Without getting to into it Rodgers, it is the "Most Widely Known Brand" here. Whether they are the best or not, well that is up to opinion. But they are definitely the one everyone knows out here, from elementary school on up.

As for the ads, I don't find them offensive. Pop up ads are offensive. These are banners and don't bug me. Heck, do you all really pay that much attention to the ads anyways? I come here to post and read, not look at commercials.

I see them all day, but then, I don't care one way or the other. :D

I don't care - I have ad-blocking :D

Right. So when it's night over in GST, like at 10 or so, it's still only 2 o' clock for me. I'm PST.

But I have ad-blocking too - so it doesn't matter. And I close pop-ups before they even load as well.

What is strange is that there are American condoms ads, intended only for Americans, but I also see a Green Card Lottery Program certainly intended for everyone but Americans.

So when UGO says that they are scheduling condoms ads at night, they know perfectly well that they will be watched by non-Americans in the middle of the day (11:50 AM here in France)...

I hope my speech is understandable

Had a great condom buying moment last night...

Was on my way to meet a "sure thing" and stopped to buy some in a 24hr shop. There was a young woman behind the counter. Asked for a pack of 3 and she went to pick up the expensive ones (Durex Avanti) - I told her "no no not those, the cheaper ones on the left there. And some chewing gum too". She came back to the counter, looked me up and down and said with a sardonic tone to her voice "you're well prepared aren't you?". My reply - "well if you saw her, you'd realise she wasn't worth the expensive ones". Oh how we laughed! :)

isn't it good to promote condoms? might help against the whole teenmother thing and sexual deseases...can't agree with the argument that promoting it means encouraging it. Of course, some may have religious grounds, and I'm not saying they shouldn't be removed or whatever, just wanted to say this.
