Landing successful. Meteor incinerated during entry, metal sphere landed in rocky waters of major human city. "Earth" is prime for infiltration and consumption.
Cave found. Appears to be currently unknown, or unvisited, by nearby human metropolitan area. Nest created.

They Came from Outer Space!
Where is the rest of the ruleset? Simple, I didn't need a gigantic one.
The game pit players against humanity. Instead of loltastically evil American rebels, superheroes, or wraiths, players start the game as a blob of biomass the size of a dog. Slow and ungainly, the blob is just a stopgap until a more suitable native lifeform is absorbed.
When a lifeform is absorb, the player can take the form of that lifeform. Furthermore, the collective experience and memories of that lifeform is added to your internal database, and you're capable of shifting to this form at anytime. It is important to not be too...public with your actions early on, or else authorities will crack down before the nest(s) are ready.
With more and more biomass, your character can do whatever you can think of with it. Think Prototype in that you can form whips, swords, gigantic biomass fists, and more with your biomass. Your body can heal very well until it starts running through biomass.
Secondary to the game is the idea of nests. Nests act as zone of control. When players add excess biomass to a nest, the nest can form more elaborate defenses and even expand/invade.
Lots of interesting things can be done with biomass and nests.
Biomass and Stats
Each player starts with a 100 biomass (the biomass of an average-sized dog). Biomass doubles as health.
Stats also include skills. Each player starts with telepathy, allowing for communication amongst each other and other life forms. Remember, you don't know language...yet.
Alert Levels
Level 0: No one suspects anything.
Level 1: The local police are investigating reports, but nothing yet.
Level 2: The local police are patrolling the streets more and in larger numbers. They're jumpier than before. The federal authorities are doing their own investigations now.
Level 3: The FBI and Police are working together. Unmarked police cars seem to be everywhere these days, along with the usual cars. Curfew is in effect. When a call is made, expect helicopters and more.
Level 4: The National Guard arrives and are working with the police/FBI for patrols. When a call is made, you can expect trucks, tanks, and helicopters.
