Things in this game that annoy you to no end

Standard stuff really...
- The stupid AI demands when I'm an obvious superpower. It is nice for them to have diplomatic pluses and minuses, but what about me? They dont care at all about what I think.
- The stupid AI requests in general...Why would I want to go to war with someone half the globe away when I'm already in a defensive war with Shaka AND have a low power rating??
- The "Hell No, we wont go" unhappy faces when I'm on a defensive war and the city is on siege...Whose side are you on citizens?
- The tendency of the AI to settle even the crappiest of places that are near me.. My continent not yours!
- So I stopped trading with you....3000 years ago. Still mad at me??
- Joao thought it was a smart move to DoW on me half the globe away (again) when he had only carracks (and had one of the lowest scores), and on top of that, his army consists only of catapults...Seriously the closed borders hurt me more than his "army". Just save us both the trouble and kill yourself

Is the explorer unit any good? It is totally useless to me. By the time it is available there are no tribal villages and it doesn't have significant advantages over scout. I actually don't recall the AI having built any of those at all.

the AI makes a demand so arrogant i actually said **** you out loud.

the AI sending waves after waves of obsolete units at me, which does no damage.

monty actually keeping the technology pace.

and finally, sometimes the AI gets smart and attacks my capital, completely bypassing several perfectly good cities along the way.

- When all my military units' health bars simultaneously shrink indicating the completion of a newer more advanced unit by one of my rivals -> really annoying when planning a war, more so if that rival turns out to be my target!

- Citizens of a recently captured barbarian city yearning to join their "homeland" and refusing to work -> also annoying but slightly funny

When the AI becomes a vassal of another allied AI when he only has one or two cities left, forcing peace. Incrediblely annoying for me, I like to finish the job off when I'm conquering, not leave one or two cities of his and for him to keep contacting me about how much he hates me.

To make friends. They don't care if you actually send any units -- you just have to go through the formalities.

When the cards are right, I'll even declare war on my neighbor in a one city challenge in the gunpowder era when my only military unit is a warrior! It really strengthens your standing with the civ's you side with.

Fighting an enemy and you think the war is going well when suddenly another civ declares war on you because he just vassaled your opponent.

I could not agree more with these.
The only way I have an explorer is if a scout stumbled onto some experience huts and I make a "medic" out of him and then promote him.

I laughed out loud. :P

What annoys me right now and that has not been mentionned here (afaik) has to do with sound :

- The inability to skip some of the songs/musics (civ need some playlist control feature)
- The loud annoying city screen effects... sometimes I have to spend minutes there thinking about the best build and the noise is just a pain. Especially that there is no continuation in the sounds, they are just samples starting and stopping... a hammer/forge sound here, then someone shooting, then something completely unrelated. Really not natural sounds and really badly done. (But thankfully I was able to mute them.)
- The way the game stops music at some zoom levels or when you enter the city screen. It really breaks the flow of the game... (I found no solution to this apart from running my own music outside the game and muting the game music.)

Vassaling in general...I disable it at game start.

Also, those air crashes in modern age...why does anyone even travel by air when the bloody things crash every three turns??

In multiplayer when you are gifted a stack of 10 units and you have to sit through and listen to that "oooohhh" sound every unit gifted.

On maps where there clearly isn't enough land for all players to go around, AI opponents who just sit on the little patch of land they could get through the whole game rather than try to take the lands of someone else by force just once. Actually, they seem to prefer settling new cities close to my near-legendary cities, and eventually losing them to culture, to declaring even on the weakest opponent. It's not "OMG this loses me the game"-annoying (rather the opposite), but it almost feels like cheating to take the land of opponent after opponent when no-one else does it.

Tap M twice (to turn the music off and on again). It changes the song.

Not able to use enemy roads without a promo thats on the end off the tree.WHY WHY WHY!?!
I modded Commando to unlock at compass and only require combat 3 to use. This allows you to have a unit with 10xp be ready for commando at 17xp. One war and your whole army could be commando. Additionally, aggressive civs can have commando at 10xp. However, your city raiders are still slow.

It works well for mounted troops mostly although they only get it at 17xp, Agg or not. Although my game is also modded in regards to barbs and I see barb spears quite often and war elephants occassionally. I mostly use it on gunpowder units. When I get muskets I tend to make a musket army of 12-15 muskets with Combat 3 and commando if I am aggressive. Paratroopers I have come out of the gate this way too. I don't see a whole lot of AI's using commando although I don't see a whole lot of AIs with units higher than level 3-4. I have seen the AI use commando tanks and armors and maybe some mounted units.

The problem with Commando (as is) is if you have combat 5, you are better off investing in something else as 1) Your experience comes few and far between at this point and each promo *should* be geared towards making that unit even more lethal and 2) How many other combat 5 units do you have to run with this bad ass?

Awesome, thanks!

Playing a MP game for several months and there is always one stupid friend of mine that goes suicidal when somethng stupid happens to them and ruins a perfectly good game. I am even pushing them to have a 500 EURO deposit on the game that wont be returned to the player that goes suicdal.

i play the game as normal and i find out im dead last in score. i usually quit if my score is too low.

Played an Emperor game, and lost to an attack from Dschingis (he didn't do that much damage, but I lost a city and had to whip out more units than I would have liked to, getting me too far behind in the research race at a crucial time). The frustrating thing is that I had the production capacity to counter his attack, but couldn't build the appropriate units because...

- I didn't have any ivory for Elephants, and no-one had any to trade me. I had conquered a city of his before precisely to get access to that ivory, and he attacked me four turns before its borders would have popped to get it.

- I put my research into culture/science techs, planning to trade them to others for military techs. But due to the huge tech bonuses the AI get, I had nothing to trade to any of my opponents because they had everything I had already. I was third in power ranking, and opponents FAR behind in cities and land were researching as fast as I.

So I went up with melee units against Macemen and Crossbowmen, and lost more than I wanted to.

Still, I like Emperor.

I am still having problems at the Emperor level. I am (slowly and painfully) learning to give up old habits that work fine at the lower levels but fail at the higher levels. I used to be a slave to counting dots and achieving precise city placement. I can't afford that luxury anymore. Now I place my cities to gain quick access to needed resources like Horses and Marble, and heck with the dot counting rituals! I just pulled the plug on my last game because I forgot that. It seems to me that new cities expand their borders slower at Emperor than an Prince, but I may be wrong.

I hate the AI asking me to give them charity.

So there I am, just going along, teching, building up my armies, and I happen to be Friencdly with my two neighbors.

THEN, both of them beg me to please, please, please, give them some techs to help them, or they'll absolutely die!

So, of course, I give them their charity. Then, two turns later, when I ask them to give ME a tech, they stick their tongue out at me and tell me, "sorry, but that's going too far." I JUST GAVE YOU TWO FREAKING TECHS! I gave them so much, and then they have the GUTS to just tell me, "no--we want to be selfish!"

SO, yeah, why don't I refuse to give them my hard-earned techs? Oh, yeah, cause then they get a -1 or -2 and vassalize to my enemy. Worse, still, they keep coming back begging again and again even though they KNOW I've refused like THREE TIMES. It's like if I give to them, I get nothing in return, and if I don't, they get a freaking heart attack and hate me.
