Things that are just not right in Civ III Complete...

Hi ! Welcome :wavey:

Does this mean you are reporting the first sighting of Civ3 Complete? Are you quite sure command-H doesn't work?

I have been playing it for the last several hours. delivered overnight by Amazon. Command-H does not work, and in checking the documentation Command-H is now for "Hurry Improvement"

I have already written a support note for Aspyr.

Cmd-H seems to work for me. Are you running in a window or fullscreen? Which version of OSX are you using? Is this with PtW or Conquests/Complete?

Edit: Also, where are you trying Cmd-H? In the game or the main menu or in netplay? I should also add that if you're running it in a window and Cmd-H doesn't hide it, you should be able to select "Hide" from the Mac menu and have it work.

How can Command-H do Hurry Improvement? Unless you are in a City screen it won't know which one you're talking about.

EDIT - I guess it could be a unit command to a Leader.

It seems that there is no more command H. This really sucks.

I've double-checked this. Cmd-H (hide) works in windowed mode but not fullscreen. It can probably be fixed in the first patch to work in fullscreen as well. In the meantime, enjoy playing in windowed mode. :)

Holding down Option(Alt) + Command while launching brings up the display options in the MacSoft version. Try that?

This works fine like this, thanks! Also, I have the cinema display screen attached to my laptop, so it was nice to be able to resize that as well.

Here's hoping that the full-screen "hide" command gets back real soon.

Do you prefer full screen? I think I'd rather have a window I can move or drop into the background to behave like other apps. I've always disliked the way games take over my screen.

To each his own. Personally, when I play games I like full screen. But then when playing the games, I do nothing else. Plus on my 19" CRT I need all the screen real estate I can get. Can't waste those precious pixels on the header bar...

I would favor the option to temporarily shift away from full screen, so I can check on things I'd like to have running in the background (like waiting for an email from either of my brothers in Alaska under a slowly spreading cloud of volcanic ash).

I have always played full-screen, however I can have my e-mail open and just pop out real quick when I hear the ding.

I run two screens on my Mac. When I run a full screen game I lose the second one - it goes black. That's a lot of wasted real estate. With windowed mode I'll be able to use the second screen to run CivAssist or CRpMapStat (via VNC to my clapped out win box), check email, open a combat calculator, see my RSS updates, keep a log file open for time line logging ....

Who? Me? Not yet! Amazon UK is still trying to work out how to get it out of Aspyr as far as I can tell :(
