Third Colonies PBEM

- Trinidad emptied... AGAIN. Puerto Cabello emptied.

I didn't empty it last turn, but I did like three turns ago I think

Ok Calais recaptured
AND
:king: ANTWERP taken [dance]

Although we believe it's kind of a trick to lure the French army into their doom but we annihilated the Dutch canon waiting for us in the north of the town.

We will see what the Dutch Stadtholder has still in store for us.

Oh and killed some English in the New World.:goodjob:

Darius you are absoulutely correct, however you must admit this is pretty dam fun right now!:D

Also I thought I'd make a case about the nature of this scenario; it is not like a WWII or Napoleonic scenario where you try to make major conquests in Europe, it is a colonies PBEM. I don't know why we're sitting here talking about conquering the Netherlands or saying "see you in London". This wasn't intended in the creation of the scenario, this is about limited overseas wars and trade mainly, not "build units and kick some ass". I'm not complaining, I just thought I'd point that out.
:D

The list of all casualties until now. (just the numbers)

English: 14
French: 65 ( ) Is France willing to accept even more casualties?????
Spanish: 62 ( again ) Will Spain continue it's "war of losses"?
Dutch: 35 (the Republican ideals are worth to die for :p )

Who said war is Hell? If you want peace then why did you join the war of agression against Spain? Spain and France did nothing to you.

Did you hear me say that war is hell?????
I just said that France and Spain are suffering terrible losses, and for what cause??? The city of Liege????
See your mistake and make peace. But if you want war, you can get it. I'm totally ready for it. You forget that I'm already preparing for this war from the beginning, but haven't yet lost an enormous amount of troops.

What exactly do you two plan to gain; Bruges is a pile of rubble, Liege has been reduced to a camp of refugees in tents, and Antwerp will likely suffer the same fate. Over a hundred units, hundreds of gold, and what the hell for?

BTW you're starting to sound like a broken record steve

What are you two offering, anything? Or just stop the war now?
And what keeps you from launching another war on us in 5 to 10 turns when you have rearmed?

I may sound like a broken record (shouldnt that be a scratched CD) but you started this by getting greedy, if you would have stopped at Antwerp this would have never started.

Thats the way I see this broken record or not.

Comments?

Even if I have Antwerp, you having Liege and Bruges is geographically abrasive. Belgium naturally belongs in the Franco-Dutch sphere of influence.

Because I don't like having a war in this scenario and I would have nothing to gain from attacking you (not to mention that I'd lose). I planned on taking the cities that should only be Dutch, and then inflict so many casualties that it is no longer worthwhile for you and a peace treaty is signed, just like any other war. This isn't 1945.

- Antwerp recaptured, of course. The wily French were clever enough to not pack it full of units, or perhaps they just had nothing to put there. :hmm:

- Liege recaptured. We hope that it will be burned as the French attack it again.

- Killed 4 or 5 more units in the Caribbean. The Spanish don't seem to be doing anything about it.

The above is merely your opinion, not a fact and I of course dont agree with it. I would have been perfectly happy to coexist with you after you took Antwerp.

You still haven't answered the question, what are you proposing for peace? And no France and I arent taking going for nothing.

Absolutely nothing; what you get in exchange for peace is not having a quagmire gobble up dozens and dozens and dozens of your units. That's what I can offer.

Darius this is your quote: Because I don't like having a war in this scenario and I would have nothing to gain from attacking you (not to mention that I'd lose).

Doesnt that sort of mean France and Spain should get some concessions?

Yes I agree with my American ally:), the stronger side always got something to make peace and concerning our strength we are the stronger side. Last time I proposed give back your conquered cities and return post-war status but that's impossible now as one of them is destroyed and the second one will surely be in the next round. You had the chance for peace but you blew it as you underestimated us, at the beginning of the war I said there won’t be a second opportunity so therefore some gold and perhaps colonies must be on the table.

Play on Overlord the more they lose the sooner they will come to the negotiating table with reasonable terms.
