This a bug?

I invaded Zak in my current game and took his capital. He is the buddhist looking religion and has it and Voice in the city. It not only cannot starve to death, it cannot stop growing. 9 unhappy citizens none working a single tile but still managing to pull in 5 food a turn. I am Eden religion. PV is doomed to be like -1,000,000,000 little red circle thingies.

1st shot is of his capital, 2nd of the "buddhist" holy city which is capped off at a population of 6 just fine, and only 6 tiles north of this city.

It's a feature. Hive drones don't consume food: they eat recycled food and soylent green.

Library of Planet has two content citizens and one unhealthiness. That adds up to five food consumption.

Because of unhealthiness University Base will stabilize at base size 14. I suggest you build a Genejack Factory there asap to get some minerals from all those drones.

Bases in PF never starve, instead they cause a special "Ultraponic Maintenance" (the citizien are supplied with imported food; each unit of food costs you 2C per turn).

The Ascetic Virtues (the religion with the Buddha Symbol) gives an extra food, the settled down Great Doctor another two.
Then you have to take in account that you play as Yang - that means that Drones don't consume any food...

Interesting find. I don't see a real bug yet, but maybe the interaction of all those things causes an issue which should be addressed.

I am thinking now I should allow the Hive to poprush Genejack Factories. Otherwise it will take forever to build a Genejack Factory in University Base.

Oh the poor Hive drones. Do I get whipped to death working on the Genejack factory? Or will I be lucky enough to survive and then work in the Genejack factory?

Yeah the irony behind the Hive gameplay mechanics can be quite hilarious.

Nvm figured it out, I was in Planned civic and the +10% food was nailing me good with that little combo. Switched out to the 10% rate = 1 and problem was solved.

Just use slider to get happiness back and then use drones to build happy stuff and slowly increase the slider back to where it goes.

Yeah, that is why I can never grow really big cities with Deidre (who can't adopt free market)! My biggest city with her now (emperor) is 23 but with a vassal, maybe I'll get more.
