Thoughts on OpenCandy, et. al.

Well people are saying "I don't know why you would use that thing."

I don't know why anyone would do anything other than what I've determined are the best things to do.

Because your opinions don't coincide with my opinions.

There are lots of preferences where I acknowledge that they are in fact preferences, but for things where I've determined the best course of action, if your opinions don't match up, it's very likely your opinions are wrong.

Except that certain ones work differently for me.

A bit of an update: I was updating Winamp manually. (Don't talk me into using a different media player. I think Ive tried every one I could find. I like Winamp.) (Also, I don't like built-in updaters as I like to keep the installer files on my computer up to date) Anyways I forgot to select the decline on the OpenCandy in it and it told me I must select an option.

I remember I used to be able to just skip past it. Still, its opt-in so you can't accidentally get stuff on your system. Winamp still has that annoying emusic thing though.

This time it recommended something called Registry Mechanic -- I dont have any use for it (I'm leery of registry cleaners after spending several hours trying to repair the damage my mom did to her computer with one).

You don't need to update us on this in the future, I don't think anyone else is considering using it for reasons already mentioned above.

As I said, repeatedly, YOU DON'T "USE" IT. THE PROGRAM DEVELOPER BUNDLES IT WITH THEIR INSTALLER.

Aimee....this isn't a blog site. You don't need to post every little thought about every little program you have here.

You may think you're doing us a service, but really, you're not. A good 90% of the people who frequent this subforum are smarter-than-average-users who know what they're doing with computers and are here to help those out with the occasional question. People won't come into this site looking for a blog of thoughts about random computer stuff.

I GiVE UP THEN.
