Letter from the Obama Campaign on Presidential Debates

David Plouffe said:
Dear Chairmen Kirk and Fahrenkopf:

I am writing on behalf of Senator Obama to accept the Commission on Presidential Debates’ framework for three presidential debates and one vice presidential debate to be held in September and October. Senator Obama has designated Congressman Rahm Emanuel as our representative to meet with the Commission and the McCain campaign to review the specifics of the Commission’s proposal, discuss any requested changes to that proposal, and resolve any issues left open by the Commission’s framework. We will make our representative available at the earliest convenience of the Commission and the McCain campaign.

Due to the late date of the two parties’ nominating conventions, and the relatively short period between the end of the conventions and the first proposed debate, it is likely that the four Commission debates will be the sole series of debates in the fall campaign. Consequently, we believe that finalizing the arrangements for these debates with promptness and certainty is in the interests of both campaigns and the American people.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

I'm going to keep the first post impartial.

Just one question: What VP match ups would you think would be interesting?

It is a show of weakness that Obama declined the town hall debates.

I thought Obama was all for town hall meats? Some more of his change I guess.

I want to see Bobby Jindal vs. John ( the media is giving me a pass on my love child for now) Edwards.

It's not going to be Edwards, and who cares about his love child?

Considering it wold ruin his political career I'm gonna say Edwards cares. I bet his wife cares too considering the embarrassment it will bring.

It won't be Jindle either but that would make for a good debate.

Since the media is not reporting it, it is not really ruining it.

According to Intrade, it is either Romney, Pawlenty, or Palin with Crist having a real outside shot. Apparently, no one believes the Cantor thing means anything.

For Obama it is Bayh, Kaine, Sebelius, or Biden. Again, that is Intrade.

obama->al sharpton (for gits and shiggles)
mccain->a rancor

Sebelius (Kansas Governor) vs Rudy "you're a terrorist" Guiliani. For no other reason that I know Sebelius is a pretty smart cookie and I've love to see Rudy get his butt kicked in a debate. So tired of the guy, glad he's going buh-bye, but one last butt kicking would be nice.
