Time for some bullying (or not)

Played the round.

T1 I traded off ivory and a few other non war based resources.

I switched to 2GS in lolco and adjusted a few other cities. I switched 2 cities to settlers. These i have chopped a bit.

I have built a city to the NW. I had to destroy a barb city that popped up. No casualties.

I tried to pass hindu to mansa brown city and that failed.

We have a settler heading to the barb city area. It has 2 archers defending. One of them 2CG. 2 extra cities will help.

I traded copper away for 2 happiness resources and 3 gold.

Not sure how we fell so far behind techwise!! Science slider is set at 0. i think we have lost out by not trading aesth for gold. Didnt think soon enough.

Tough luck on Kukiya, we still need to spread Hinduism there.

Why are we in Caste right now? Switch back to Slavery(+Monarchy maybe) in 3 turns

City microing is kinda bad (no offense meant)... we have a lot of food available and a lot of happy excess, why are almost all cities stagnating or barely growing?

Cow misser: switch plains mine to farmed grass. Growth in 4 turns as well as forge in 4 turns. Work the Ivory before working that plains hill There's 2 workers to the northwest chopping which isn't really necessary now. Cancel them and use them in a better fashion.
Horice: switch (non riverside)grass mine to farmed grass and spy->hamlet. You need to hook up the rice
Spear'D: needs to grow as well. No spy specialist and work all improved tiles
Lolco: work the Dye, it's a great tile. Also the farm. Grow before specialists
Frosty: a Lighthouse, seriously? workboat->whip at size 2. Then granary or lighthouse. Also send a couple workers up there to improve the resources.
Technotitlan: rename it as you wish :) needs a pair of workers for a road+improve sheep then the rest. (use the ones chopping near Cow misser)

We need more workers... We'll get 1 once the barb city falls, but I'd think 2 more wouldn't hurt.

Regarding trades:
CoL+Aesthetics<->Monarchy+115:gold:
Orange Mansa is currently teching Aesthetics as well so we need to trade it for his :gold: in 1~2 turns

Cancel the banana deal next turn, we can get 3gpt for it.
Delete 2 warriors sitting in Horice and the one 'fogbusting' east of Cow misser

Let's switch EP to only Peach Mansa. He's got the most cities with some room left for a few more so he'll tech pretty well. Moreover Kukiya is a great spot to steal from.
In order for this to work, we need a bit more culture in Horice. I'd go Temple>Library next. And as stated above, spread Hinduism there.
We won't need to research anything anymore, we can just steal everything this way...

I traded for 2 happiness resources near the end of my turn set. We were close to the happiness cap before that.

Perhaps caste system was a bad idea but it helped pop a few borders with artists. Whipping might of been better.

The HA was being moved to take the barb city where the settler was going.
 
Ah, not a bad idea for fast border pops. In that case, Tenochtitlan can stop building a Monument, go granary right now and work an artist for 3 turns until we switch back to Slavery. We can do the same to the other 2(3 maybe) cities when we settle them.

Do we tech Literature by ourselves or wait to steal it? There's a good case to be made of either choice. I would steal it as it will be cheaper and I don't think we'll get a war started anytime soon...
 
Agree, CS will be the best thing to use now for Bureau and irrigation. Not sure how much EP it will cost though but it'll be faster than researching it ourselves.
 
Build :espionage:? Did you mean something else? We can build wealth to up the slider but...
I'd go for CS first still but it's your set - Literature is very good too and we can trade it around a bit for gold.

Stop here, worker is getting the fur, spices online. All EPs are on Peach Mansu, spy is settled in Kukiya.
 
I've just installed BUG 4.2 but i don't see the :espionage: option? Moreover I don't think this is not altering the gameplay...
I'm now trying to install BULL but it tells me I don't have the DLL??? I've sent it to BtS/Assets like it says but I must be doing something wrong... enough OT talk. Edit: I finally got it working, but not sure how :crazyeye:

Peach and Orange Mansa have 4gpt each we can trade for Fish+Dye. Every other resource deal can be renegotiated as well, should get us some more gpt overall.

Send the sleepy HAs to take the barb city as soon as it hits size 2.

Teno: no need for a Monument, I'd go for Forge or S. Altar
Good amount of workers! Maybe we can spare one for Frosty to hook up Silver/marble.

We can trade for Literature/Drama/Construction/Theology/Machinery/Feudalism likely.

From Peach Mansa I would save up some EPs to steal Philosophy which we can trade with the backwards again. I think the steal rate will be around 40ish% the base price, meaning about 560 EP. We're at 356 atm so I would run 60% :espionage: for 3 turns and then steal. We can resume tech of Paper afterwards.

That being said, we might have a shot at Liberalism! Run 2 scientists in Lolco and after getting Philosophy, we can run Pacifism/Caste to get a quick GS or 2 if we're lucky. Bulb Education and take Lib.

Just drop that in the CustomAssets, you'll be able to build :espionage: at Civil Service. It shows up on the tech tree, weird that when I installed 4.2 it was there. The BULL .dll goes in the actual game directory

I'm at Kossin's side this time. BUG goes for Bts Unaltered Gameplay, but building espionage is kind of altering something...

I'm trying to imagine in which way the productivity of a nation can help it in it's espionage... putting aside building video recorders and so)

I'm not quite following the espionage discussion, I thought you could build espionage when you met your first neighbor. Isn't that when the espionage slider shows up? Then you are free to focus everything in the espionage slider instead of the science slider if you wanted. Isn't that how you build it? Along with buildings like courthouses, security bureaus etc.
Anyway, I should be able to play Thursday at the latest. If that is not soon enough feel free to either skip or swap me. I wouldn't mind seeing more discussion too though before my turnset anyway.

cripp7 was making reference to a mod that allowed you to build espionage like you build research/wealth.
Thursday's fine, the game is already at 400AD and we didn't start that long ago :)
More discussion is also welcome, although there aren't 50 thousand choices lying before us.
I promise my next SG will not prevent DoWs :p
