I love the game! I have had every Civ game since #1 on my Atari Computer!

Most of the posts on this form are complaint threads. I am sure they are the minority of people who play though. So speak up FOR Civ IV!

I've had the whole darkness problem, but even so I've had an awesome time with it. Sure, it's not Civ 3 or Civ 2, but it wasn't meant to be. I'm sure that any technical problems I have will be cleared up by an imminent patch.

I love it. Civ3 wasn't my cup of tea, but I really enjoy the fourth installment. I have had no technical troubles so far, not even the smallest problem, but I'm almost embarrassed to post that, because I am beginning to sound like a fanboy. I'm glad that it runs as stably and smoothly as it does, though.

I like it a lot. I'm getting used to its differences from CivIII as I keep playing. I've been far too busy playing the game to want to bother defending it on a web forum.

There is a lot of complaining so i will add my 2 pence. I have never played another game that has sucked me in so much. Everything is finely balanced, and for once, and this is a real biggy, it does not feel as though the AI is cheating. You felt this almost throughout Civ2 and in many aspects of Civ3. Diplomacy in particular gives you all the information you need to show you that the AI isn't cheating, all the factors determining your opponents feelings are shown in the window. Other aspects I love are:

-Units speaking their native language (This is brilliant, especially if you play as the Germans and start ordering the panzers about. Talk about atmosphere)
-The globe view (excellent)
-combat (real tactics and strategy)

Thought i should try to balance out the negative comments on these boards.

I feel I need to take a break from my CIVing and chime in here as well... I was not a happy person when Civ 3 came out... the game to me really lacked the spark that made the previous Civs so addictive. With Civ 4 however, that spark has come back with a vengeance! I'm getting deprived of sleep thanks to the OMTS (one more tunr syndrome) !

There are certainly some bugs and luckily for me nothing major that stops me from playing or ruins the experience

I assume, then, from your logic, that you hate the game, otherwise you'd be playing it?

Get a clue. People also post who find fault in the game NOT because they "hate" the game but because they're looking to strike up conversations that can lead to constructive conclusions and perhaps, if they're lucky, influence the course of the patches/expansion of the game. Then again, I loathe the "haters" equally as much as I loathe the moronic "this game is great you only post to say otherwise if you're a hater" bunk.

Thanks to the speedy Firaxis ATI fix I'm loving every moment of the latest edition to the franchise, Im thrilled so much has been rethought and refreshed in Civ IV!

I LOVE IT!!

I thought I loved Civ 3 (I never really played Civ2) but some things that bugged me about Civ3 are fixed in Civ4. For instance:

I love the 3d graphics and ability to see everything built at a city (it always seemed stupid to me that you had to go to "View city" in Civ3 to see all the stuff).

I love the speed adjustment for the game so I can play quicker games (civ3 games used to last FOREVER and I never felt like I accomplished anything).

In a nut shell Civ4 seems so much more polished than Civ3 that it makes civ3 look like a development platform to build C4. Overall the music, the speed, the easy ability to adjust things and manage the cities. I just find it soooo much better. Really really loving the game.

Also, I have had 0 problems with the stability, bugs, etc. Maybe I am lucky but I also own a Dell D800 (I think) with a geforce5200FX... obviously not a great game setup bet a fairly popular mainstream computer that may have been tested so its stable. I find it stable in almost all games. Sad for people have tech problems with the game.

I love it! With 1GB of RAM I had before, it was unplayable in late huge games, but now when I have 1.7 GB RAM it is great! Best civ ever! Even though there are some minor faults:

* No text - gimme civilopedia in text please, and city build orders in text! Gah!
* Eats to much RAM
* Strange gamespeed settings; I want slow research and normal production. However this was easily modable and now the game is near perfect!

The 3d is great! I just wish it was possible to get down to "ground level".

I love it. In fact I will attend the next CivAnon meeting just as soon as I'm finished with my next 2..3..4 or more games. Who knows maybe I'll go when I don't get up for 3 days!
