TNT Files Term 7 - 9

well - I've prepared a rough draft for a letter to TNT.

Anyone going to do any edit work?
Fe?

Or we just going to start over? ;)
(It's ok, I wouldn't be insulted)

I see some urgency! And if the letter is good, why wait to send it?! They are at war, and they need to know where we stand on things. I would say send the letter today.

Sometimes it seems like we spend a whole week tweaking a letter, only to have events take a turn away from the subject of our letter! Not every letter needs the same attention to detail. I agree that the more time we spend discussing things, the more likely we are to achieve success, but there comes a point at which we are forgetting that we need the other party to read the letter in a timely fashion for it to be effective.[/rant]

I'm not sure TNT has the attention span to read through that entire letter (I barely made it ;)). I did notice you tried to sneak in a promise of peace until TNT is in the Industrial Age - always trying to tie our hands even though we have absolutely nothing to fear...

OK draft of changes ...

Title ... MIA Responce
Dear TNT Brothers,

The news of your great victories have swept through the streets of every MIA city and have echoed through the halls of power in Athens. All of MIA rejoices with you in your victories. May Meleet :worship: grant you many more years of triumph.

Now to the business, We hope you appreciate the work gone into this :)

Knowlege of the Dark KISS lands
Our Mapmakers and Historians have combined their records to produce this list of KISS towns that would be of interest. If you can tell us what you can already see, and what your Generals are interested in knowing, then we will be happy to try to fill in any gaps in terrain and town location.
Spoiler KISS towns & History :

East coast - North coming down
Notthefullshilling ... early city therefore well established.
Idiote ... early city therefore well established.
>> Polecat ... slightly inland, early city therefore well established.
Crackhead ... founded turn 100.
>> DuMass ... swamp, slightly inland founded turn 109.
Nincompoopicity ... founded turn 112 and a border settlement.

West coast - North coming down
Frozen Lake ... early city therefore well established, staging zone for the invasion crossing.
>> ??? ... the backlands are dark to us, but suspect a city.
> Paradise Hotel ... founded turn 110, slightly inland with coastal view directly behind wine.
Dionysus ... founded turn 116.
>> Dresden ... founded turn 111, inland behind above city ... love to give it the 'Bomber Harris 'treatment (WWII fire bombed)

North coast - following the sun (East to West)
Notthefullshilling ... early city therefore well established.
Simpleton ... capital.
Jesterton ... early city therefore well established.
Devil's Soul ... established turn 101.
However in the hinterland are a number of well established cities.

Military Strategy Talk
Spoiler :

We've assembled our top Military Generals and had them pouring over our maps and intelligence information regarding KISS. We asked them to generate some ideas to send you regarding taking the fight to KISS.

Unfortunately, the news we have to pass on from our Generals is not especially rosy.

They believe that the combination of KISS in their golden age, fighting on their home turf, having access to their own extensive road network with a high movement UU, and did we mention KISS in their golden age – makes them an extremely unappealing target for invasion.

Even if a successful crossing and landing can be achieved without detection, KISS will be able to instantly move units in to respond from up to 6 tiles away (2 move UU on roads) and within 2-3 turns can have virtually their whole army at the invasion site. This fact, combined with accelerated build ability and improved cash-rush reserves makes all but the largest invasions Dead on Arrival.
(We also believe your current power score is weak compared to KISS. If true, this means a second wave attack from KISS is a greater danger to you than any invasion you can launch on KISS would be to them)

We would dearly love to see you sail across the sea and give KISS lessons in humility – but our top military minds believe this is little more than a fiasco in the making.

Therefore, our Generals recommend that you focus on fortifying your own defences against a possible second-wave of attacks from KISS.

A secondary mission could be building a few boats to patrol your waters – and maybe even launch a feint to make KISS think an invasion is coming  and therefore unnecessarily waste KISS resources on defence.

Regular Reporting
We think that it would be in the best interest for both our teams if we begin a regular correspondence (or chat) where we exchange the relative Military Strengths data.
We would also like to extend this to a reporting on any developments between your neighbours.

When exactly does your Peace with Nuts end?
What avenues have you explored to extend this Peace?
Any correspondence with KISS?

Together, we believe we can glean more info about the strength and intentions of our mutual opponents.

This will only work if we are kept in the loop of your thinking ... Interested?

MIA Intelligence Report
Spoiler :

Military Strengths, MIA relative to -
> KISS ... AVERAGE
> Nutters ... STRONG
> TNT ... STRONG

Nothing of interest to declare from our scout in the Nutlands.
KISS and Nutters have entered into a technology swapping agreement and are also trading luxuries.

MIA spotters
We are in the process of sending another MIA unit to assist in spotting for KISS. We may also be able to assist in cleaning some barbarian nests from your territory if you desire. It will take some time though. :(
Our southern wanderer is also slowly making his way northwards.

The future of the Alliance of Science
We believe we still have a bright future ahead of both of our peoples. A future full of cooperation and strategic coordination to leave our enemies in the dust of history.

At this time, it's probably still too early to revive the Great Library gambit … and too early to declare it dead. The next several years will make the strategic picture much more clear. For the time being, the Great Library will just have to lurk in the background as we put other frameworks in place for our alliance.

If you'd be comfortable providing us with some numbers and estimates on your research ability, we can start drafting some plans and timelines for cooperative research.

Formal Peace Treaty.
Seems like a bit of a formality, but we're always eager to have a big state dinner (our tables are always ladened with fine food and drink) and signing ceremony! A written agreement will simply codify the good relationship we already enjoy and lay the groundwork for future building of trust. Perhaps you could draft something for us to read.
We also have to address possible contingencies if the tide turns against you. Rest assured that MIA is prepared to assist you in your endevours, but it may be prudent to begin discussing options to prevent KISS (and Nuts if they turn to the darkside) from gaining too much of an advantage.

MIA Goodwill
We are pleased to announce a second aid package for our brothers over the sea. As soon as the network is in place (in the next few turns) we will be honoured to gift you some luxurious Furs. These should help you keep your people happy until you can reconnect your own furs that were destroyed by the rampaging Galls.

Next City Naming Rights
We appreciate your goodwill gesture of letting us name a city of yours!
We think the name April's Fools would be good name and takes a swing at the KISS idiots at the same time. We would also like for you to not announce to the world that we suggested the name, it is better for both of us to keep as much information about the nature of our relationship as secret as possible.

Closing
This letter is already quite long, so we'll stop there.
We look forward to hearing back from you on Military info sharing, Science info sharing and the Peace deal.

All the best, and may your steel always be wet with the blood of invading Galls!

Your Friends and Allies,

Feaurius III
MIA Foreign Minister

I am unsure how to preceed so I will post in spoilers ...

:nono: I expect NO ONE to peak ... untill it is cleared by GA or RM.

GA said OK ... so enter if you want ...

It is basically it was like me sitting over Donsig's shoulder and watching him play his turn :wow: ... He informs me what he sees and what he is doing ... very exciting :groucho:

Strange Offer
donsigw: Are you there?
fe3333au: yes I am
donsigw: Want to watch as I play our turn?
fe3333au: sure how?
donsigw: well, you won't be able to see but I can describe what happens ... kind of like in the demogame chats
fe3333au: sure I'm eager ...

Letter will be sent tomorrow
fe3333au: btw you guys will probably receive our responce to your letter tomorrow
donsigw: good

<Reporting when he plays>
donsigw: you shoul dbe able to post what is said here ... I don't see it as breaking any rules

TNT think we don't trust them ???
donsigw: there has been some idea that my team does not trust yours ... I think your members miscontrued some of what we said earlier
fe3333au: ok ... about trust ... we do trust TNT and the next letter will show this with us sharing totally our intel

Caveat of Confidentiality
donsigw: so all I ask is that your team keep this stuff to themselves ... of course none of this should be shared with the Iroqi or the Galls.
fe3333au: Goes without saying ... :)

Permission to Post
donsigw: yes, so if you want to post any of this to show that we trust you then go ahead
fe3333au: OK ...
donsigw: especially if it speeds xommunication between us
fe3333au: yes communication is essential

Game On
donsigw: ok - turn started

Happenings
donsigw: we got 40g from the Greeks. I will accept it.
donsigw: so, that's 2 turns of 40g, right? How much more do we have coming - do you know?
fe3333au: off hand no ... but either 2 or 3 I think
donsigw: that's what I thought

Things built
donsigw: ok, we built another immortal in Semtex - it's a regular

Military Advisor
donsigw: we have 1 curragh, 8 immortals, 1 warrior, 22 pikemen, 20 horses, 10 workers and a settler
donsigw: we are strong vompared to the Doughnutians
donsigw: weak compared to KISS
donsigw: and average compared to MIA

<I will contact Game Moderators for Advice regarding legality>
fe3333au: btw I will post ... but in spoilers and request a private ruling from GA or Regentman ... I don't see a problem though ... wow this is good :D

donsigw: there are Shangian tribes near Provobomb
fe3333au: bloody Barbs LOL
donsigw: good for gold
fe3333au: and promotion of units

Economy
donsigw: our teasury is at 432g.
donsigw: but about to spend 60g to upgrade our last warrior
donsigw: Oh. nice. After upgrading that warrior we are now average compared to KISS

Wonders
donsigw: I see you guys are building the Pyramids, too. Is that for real?
fe3333au: no it is to direct a chop
donsigw: hmm, learn something new everyday
donsigw: so by switching to a wonder your chop doesn't go to that city even if it's closest?
fe3333au: yes
fe3333au: I too learnt this

On the Map
donsigw: Well, it looks as though the Iroqi will be building their first city in the Sacred Jungle.
donsigw: They have two mounted warriors and a settler near the gems
donsigw: so much for selling them gems!
donsigw: we have our second extra gems hooked up now
donsigw: we're going to rush a library in Fort C. to try to keep the gems away from the Iroqi.

< Will Culture stop Nuts getting Lux? >
fe3333au: Are you sure cos if they build a city close it will be taken
donsigw: did it already - cost 136 g
fe3333au: k :)
donsigw: am I sure of what? ... that the gems will be ours if they build close?
donsigw: we have three gems in our borders and all are connected
donsigw: they are adjacent to the fourth gems
donsigw: it is not in our borders but we have a pikeman on it
fe3333au: That it will protect the gem source ... was it needed to get extra Gems? ... or are they all within original city borders
donsigw: by our treaty we will have to move the pike if they place a city where they are now
donsigw: the last gem tile is two tiles from Fort C. so it would be within that city's expanded borders
donsigw: I think it would be ours even if they build right where they are
fe3333au: so Nuts cannot found a city next to an existing border?
donsigw: I mean it'll be ours once Fort C.s borders expand
donsigw: they can but they are not next to our borders
fe3333au: okay go on ... this is fun :D
donsigw: they cannot put the city on the gem tile because we have a pikeman on it
fe3333au: nice move
donsigw: and we don't have to move it - the jungle is nuetral except of course unless one of us has cultural borders
donsigw: so all they can do is put a city next to the gems and them we fight over it through our cultural borders - and I think we have the edge there

< What about more aggressive ways of gaining Luxes? >
fe3333au: unless they attempt another method of fighting ;)
donsigw: they are weak
donsigw: we have walls in our southern cities
donsigw: sent a horseman looking for barb gold

Incense
donsigw: do you guys have incense?
fe3333au: yep ... we think it is scattered about all continents ... like furs
donsigw: last time we talked about it you hadn't seen any
donsigw: I'll be hpooking up our second source soon
fe3333au: I may have been mistaken ... I'll check
donsigw: It's been a wile since we discussed it
fe3333au: just found luxes ... we have 1 incence

Movement of Units
donsigw: just moved our curragh next to the Snarling Narwhal
fe3333au: Snarling Narwal will be loaded with a fast unit and be sent up your way
fe3333au: sorry wrong ship ... we will be using another
donsigw: must be nice to have such fancy ships - and more than one to boot!
fe3333au: LOL

Micromanaging
donsigw: just doing a little micromanaging of cities
donsigw: we have horses connected again

Culture Points
donsigw: you guys are going to take the culture lead from us ... that's all we had :-( ... and with the wonder in Athens we'll be hard pressed to put Dancing Banana back on top
fe3333au: Wait for our next newspaper it will reveal all about the Colossus

Peace with Nutters initiative
donsigw: ok - well, maybe we can bribe the Nutters with incense if they get thier own gems
donsigw: two more jungle tiles to road and we'll have a silk hooked up
fe3333au: good

KISS Presence
donsigw: ok, we've decided to road a hill so we can try to get at the Galls
donsigw: got only one worker there but can get two more there next turn
donsigw: got three pikes and five immortals on the hill
donsigw: they can attack the hill with at least 4 GS if they want
donsigw: on GS is elite
donsigw: our pikes are 1 reg and 2 vet
donsigw: one vet is fortified
donsigw: one of our immortals is elite
fe3333au: Hope you get an Army ... that would change things ;-)
donsigw: so I have to figure out if they will attack or back off
donsigw: would be nice
donsigw: the question is will they give us the cahnce.
donsigw: can't attack this turn because ourelite just moved next to their elite
donsigw: think I'll put another pike on the hill
donsigw: now our stack is protected by three vet pikes and one reg pike
donsigw: I don't think they will attack. I'm guessing they will move their elite unit out of our range
donsigw: that will give us time to finish th eroad
donsigw: they have alittle advantage now because they have our old road network and two movement points to work with
donsigw: lokks lije we have to try slowly pushing them back to the beaches
donsigw: scratch that - I can only get one more worker on that hill next turn
donsigw: ok - that's about all there is for now
fe3333au: wow thanks for that

Cya
fe3333au: As I said I will get final permission from GA or RM ... but can see no problem ... thanks very much :-D
fe3333au: Also we will be sending you the letter answering everything tomorrow

wow - amazing info in there! good work fe! :goodjob:

I like your revised version of the letter also! Looking good!

fe3333au said:
I want to send the letter off tomorrow

Also the above chat has been cleared by GA ... he found it wierd ... as do I :crazyeye:

I think they want confirmation that they can trust us. If any info is leaked about what happened, they wont have trust in us anymore.

Very interesting intel on military strenths - they started the turn average to us and weak to KISS, but upgrading 1 warrior to immortal made them average to KISS as well so KISS is very slightly stronger than us right now.

Their plan to fight for gems with culture won't work, but it is too late. If the gems are next to the Dnuts town, but 2 away from the TNT town, then the gems will always belong to Dnuts no matter how much culture they build.

Sent Title ... MIA Responce to greekguy and TNT g-mail.

But updated relative military strengths

Military Strengths, MIA relative to -
> KISS ... AVERAGE
> Nutters ... STRONG
> TNT ... STRONG AVERAGE

donsigw: we have 1 curragh, 8 immortals, 1 warrior, 22 pikemen, 20 horses

Current Ground Force Deployment: 34
4 horsemen (4 veteran)
1 knight (1 veteran)
17 hoplites (17 veteran)
11 MDI (8 veteran, 3 regular)
1 catapult

Current Naval Deployment: 3

3 galleys (1 veteran, 2 regular)

How the heck were we strong to them until very recently? They must have an awful lot of regulars...

donsigw: we have ... 10 workers

I think he previously said they had 14 towns. :shake:

 I must agree about workers ... even before meeting you Chamnix ;)

I'd at least have 1 worker per city plus slaves would be extra.

Oooh! Some really great Military numbers to work with! I'm going to dump them in the Armory until I get some time to mull it all over. Unfortunately, work is insanely busy right now.

The powers that be decided to shut down one of our locations, and I've got to clear out a different one so that my shop can move into the old one. With almost no crew. In three days. While we have two shows going on the two adjacent theatres. Without a dumpster permit. Without ranting :crazyeye:

Received with the save:

turn is attached

sorry for the delay

We have extra gems for sale. We could do a gems for furs trade, or if you still want to give us the furs as part of a lend-lease program, how's about we talk about a lux for tech deal? We'll have extra silks in less than ten turns. How's about gems and silks for theology or invention? We need some way of keeping up in the tech race till we research on our own again. It seems in both our interests to keep close in tech so we can try getting different free techs again.

They sent us gems (without accept).

I'm not really sure what they are saying. They will trade gems for furs, or we can give them furs for free and trade a tech for gems? Well, gee, I guess we shouldn't give them furs then :crazyeye:.

I think we should make a gems for furs deal now (send with accept) and essentially tell them that we will take care of them tech-wise since we want them to keep up with us. We will certainly trade techs for luxuries in the future. However, since the techs we have are not useful to them immediately (and the silks are not connected anyway), we should wait to avoid lowering the price for the KISSNuts.

We don't have spare furs to send at this stage ... requires city culture increase.

However if we agree to the long term idea of having TNT as our war dog ... we will be giving each other spare luxes automatically.

TNT Pigeon just arrived

Dear MIA,

Firstly, my people would like to congratulate you on your completion of the extraordinary Colossus. It is truly a site to behold! :goodjob: Also, concerning other World Wonder business, my people have noticed you are constructing the Pyramids. Is that what you plan on building or is it a pre-build/cover up to prevent D'Nuts and KISS from knowing what you really intend to construct? Also, we were wondering what you plan on building while you and KISS stay at peace. Are you building up your armies, saving money, or improving your cities?

Now, we have some questions regarding the strengths and weaknesses of KISS's forces. From across the borders, what units can you see of the Galls? Also, could you guess at the overall number of Gall troops they might have in their homeland. This info will be very useful in deciding if our nation will bring the war to KISS's shores. We also would like to thank you for the valuable information you shared with us concerning KISS. It will help us make better decisions during this war. :)

We also are happy you provided us with a name to honor a city with you. Since you don't want us to announce you provided the name April Fools, is it ok if we at least announce we are honoring the city for our friends the Greeks?

Lastly, I would like to chat with you via AIM to give you precise information concerning civ military strengths, foreign relations, and scientific research. I will also draft up an official peace treaty in time for a diplomatic chat. So, when would you be able to chat concerning these matters?

Bye for now. :)
