To Firaxis - a pre-patch petition for boosted goody huts

I have no problem with them making them less powerful at all.
Making them more interesting would be nice and by no means does that mean adding game breaking abilities or advantages. I like roleplaying first and foremost.
That includes negative things happening to you. Roll with the punches and adapt to the situation.

I do understand though that that is not everyone's play style. Making it optional is best so that it pleases everyone.

That includes random events as well.

Well yes, but here's the thing, if you start adding 50 different ways for a goody hut to affect you in a way that isn't broken, well you end up with a bunch of small things you never really care for...
Let's face it, even the ones that currently exist are sometimes considered broken... For instance finding 20 culture is in many ways game breaking in the sense that I can pretty much laugh at the guy who picked France because I managed to get my first SP faster then the guy who should be the first with a social policy by stepping on a tile...

Like Bibor said, more than half the suggestions in this thread would be plain broken and if you lowered them to a point where it wasn't broken, more than half the time you would just go: Well damn, I was much happier with just getting to pick within a small set of goodies.

well, the idea i pose gives a player a choice from what usually happens. instead of entering a hut and getting a fixed reward you get a choice of 3 sensable choices/rewards. my ideas may not be perfect in nature because i don't fully know what is balanced - but i know how to suggest a good system.

getting a choice from huts instead of a fixed and forced worthless or overgood pop - you get a few slightly toned down options.

this can also be applied to barbarian camps. instead of a fixed ammount of gold, you might select +10 experience points or a free warrior. When I enter a barbarian camp, for flavour reasons, i want to decide what to do with them.

they give me gold, i let them go. - i conscript a unit, maybe a warrior with a 20% Combat Modifier. - I finish them off, my soldiers gain more experience in combat.

I agree the numbers i propose could be unfair but thats where all of you come in - especially those of you who have broken down the althogrim and can ponder what numbers would be better - so it could really be evaluated if "choice" is a viable frontier to explore.

What I've always wanted to see implemented in civ is goody huts/ruins spawning randomly as the game progresses in areas that go unexplored for extended time periods. It'd give you more reason to keep exploring through-out the game.
