If you're able to run civ4 on your laptop with no problem please post what brand of laptop and what specs you are using. I am looking to buy a laptop that can run civ4 smoothly (i don't mind slowdown near the end of a game as even most heavy desktops can buckle under the strain of 16 civs on huge maps).

Thanks!

Dell Inspiron 1520 15"
Windows XP
Intel Core Duo T5450
2 GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT with 512 Mb

It's a little slow for a huge map with 16 civ.

I have a Dell M1530, Windows Vista Home Premium, 4 GB RAM, nVIDIA 8600 M (256 MB). Works fine on the high settings even on Huge maps. If you have the option, you might want to increase the video card to 512 MB, though 256 MB is sufficient...

My laptop meets the recommended reqs and runs pretty good.

you can see specific specs on my profile page.

Gateway M-series with 4 Gig memory. You need lots of memory because of the hoggy Vista operating system. The real problem that some of us have had is having to constantly update DirectX9.whatever. But there's lots of help and direction from the experienced players on the bugs thread.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L355D-S7825 with a 17" Monitor, AMD duo-core 2.0 Ghz processor, and an ATI Radeon video card cam with it. It's running on Vista home premium with 3 Gb or RAM and I have not had any problems at all even with Huge maps, it does have jerky graphics with I play with just my battery but that's understandable, I just play it when I got it plugged in. I haven't had any problems with Vista either which is strange after hearing all the rumors about it :)

As long as you don't get one of the cheaper laptops out there now, pretty much anything you buy that has probably double the game's minimum specs will run it fine. The better laptop you get, the better the game will run. I have a Dell e1505 from 2 years ago and it runs the game fine.

I play on a Mac but still with BtS through Bootcamp:

2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2 GB RAM

Works great. Lag in late games though (and on huge maps).

Toshiba Satellite A205 - eats Future era Huge/Marathon games for breakfast.

HP Pavillion dv6700 with an AMD 64x2 Turion processor, Nvidia GeForce Go 7150M graphics card with 1071mb of shared video memory, 3 gigs of RAM, 160 gb HDD, and a 15.4" screen. I just read the stickers on it. It runs great when set on High Preformance, and fine on Power Saver (which i use cause the High Performance tends to overheat the comp when playing civ). Not too expensive, cost around $500 new.

Looking to get a portable gaming laptop essentially but with some use around the house.

My friends dad is big into computers. he took the shell of some dell and made me a super uber computer. I can run any kind of game I want with no slow down. for those of you who know "Crisis". I can run that for hours at top speed with no problems. total cost of $550. Great deal

You can save a lot of cost doing it that way ----> buy the components and install them yourself. Even better is that with a lil bit of net research anyone can put a computer together, assuming they can read and operate a screwdriver. Takes some getting used to at first though.

Just playing Crysis on a laptop is an accomplishment; but at top speed and no problems? That computer is godly.
