Too many resources?

I am loving this mod, bravo! I was wondering if the standard amount of resources are too much and if I should set them to low. I feel like I am getting too many resources. Are there any other customization options or map scripts that make for a better game? Sorry for bad english, I'm trying. Thanks!

That's really a personal preference, and also somewhat dependent on map size. Some players like lots of resources all over the place, others like the challenge of scant resources.

So if you feel they are too much. then I would probably set them lower.

As far as customization options, if you are referring to the mod, that depends. There are many variables that are defined in the xml/sql files of the mod, most of which can be modified with notebook ++, modbuddy, or simple text editors. Also in Whowards Dll is a custom mods options XML where you can enable/disable quite a few options.

Hope I answered somewhat, Gilga could probably answer more(better):)

Sure i will try my best.

But iam not sure if you meaned there are to much resources in the game or that the amount of every resource is to high.

So like Gyogen said when you start a game, you can set the amount of resources via the advanced settings.
Since we use a huge amount of differend resources in CCTP, its normal that ca 80% of all land tiles have a resource.
If you have some modding experience you can alter the places where this resources are placed, if you would like to do this i could post some notes.

Will the really advanced setup mod conflict with this mod?

No i didnt meaned that mod and it will not be compatible
.
When you start a new game, you can use advanced options, and then select the amount of resources placed on the map.

hello!

i have another question about resources.
I dont see where all my resources come from. Im in ~round 500 and can trade for example "tea" (5x) and "honey" (3x) but i dont even see any tea or honey icons on the map.
How is this possible?

Question on strategic resources: I'm playing with ressources set to high. In industrial age each tile of horses, iron, sulfur and coal provides 82 or 88 of the respective ressource. Is that intended or some kind of bug?

Its probably a bug, Gyogen can say more about this.

There is a script being tested that adds to the resources each time a new era is entered, however it is only set to add 1 to the resource, so it shouldn't get that high. I'll have to check it out when I get home later.

I think what was happening is the game was updating the resources every time any players era changed, so the more civs you're playing with, the greater the resources become.

I adjusted it to only run when the human players era changes which should solve that problem.

You can replace the file here:

result of test game so far:
horse ressources didn't change from ancient to classic. Got a CTD in early classic.
Will try again

edit:
Had two different VisualC++ 2012 runtime environments. Deleted one and reached renaissance without crash. No changes to the ressource values so far.
