Anyhow, I'm 22. Been playing Civilization since Civ1 when I was 12.

Well, I'd have been wrong guessing your age, Sirp. Won't tell you what my estimate would have been, let's just say you seem more... uhhh....seasoned ;)

I'm 26 - first picked up on civ when I was, ooh, 15 ? Our Olivetti M21 at home couldn't run civ, as it had no harddrive, so I got a job bringing round newspapers until I could buy my own computer - a second hand 286/ 16 Mhz. Civ1 was the very first game that got installed.

i had a 286 too......... when i was 3, out of interest how much did that cost you?

I got one secondhand for $500 approximately - not a good deal, in hindsight, But then I was young and didn't know better :)

For studying...

Seriously, civ has helped me alot in Western Civ class. :D I've (sadly) begun to think of history in civ terms sometimes, but that helps alot.

@china 444- I am 14 abd I play on Emperor. Now there's a poll-- How old/what difficulty.

Oh really? :)

You have my curiosity piqued now, do tell! :p

Oh. I remember when we first got civ1 in my household
My father had bought a 386 - which at the time was one of the most advanced machines on the market (ehem - that was his words...)
I remember arguing that civ1 was not a bloody war game, and that it had a civilopedia, where you could learn from lots useful info about the history of the world :)
Well - civ was allowed, and I ve been playing ever since.
Yes - I still play civ1...

I'm just shy of 6,000 and my term of office should be ending soon. But first, I have to rid the world of some ruthless aggressors.

Just kinda wondering what age groups live in the CIV III realm. My wife says I'm too old to play. ( 38+ )

IF someone believes someone else is to old to have FUN, then that persons seems to be old in mind ;o)
(Except if you have children to small to take care of themselfes. THEN I don't recomend playing Civilization before they become biger ;o)
This is a questions about how to think to remind young in your own mind. So if you tell your wife that, she perhaps starts saying that Civilization is good ;o)
For instance the famous writer Astrid Lindgren never got old, although she became over 90...

Hmm...
I'm 39 and I have been playing civilization for the last 20 years or so (and still going strong).

First ones were Avalon Hill's Civilization (-82) and Extended Civilization.
Then Civilization I (both versions)
Then Civilization II
Then Civilization III

I still prefer the second one over Civ III (and the board games).

Jari ;=)

Narf, look at the wave.

Oh, forgot to say I am also 15! :>
I play Chieftian and the one after (German version sux0rz)
