I'm glad to see so many people (67) within my own age group :) I only knew one person that had Civ3 at my school.

I'm one of those 67 people....

How old are you?

Yeah, there are more people than I thought that are our age. At my school, nobody I know likes civ, if they even know it exists.

It's right on my profile, strider.

Yup. I only know one person that plays Civ3 but I don't know whether he plays it anymore.

:king: I'm 38 and have been playing Civ since the desease started  My wife says it's juvenile. I can't play when she's around  Seriously though, I feel that most Civ Heads are probably Historians and very bright people.

I'd say most civilization players are above-average in terms of how bright they are. As for being 'historians', I think they might have a mildish interest in popular history, but I doubt many would go far beyond that. Civilization uses populist views of history and stereotypes extensively. Its attempt to appeal to a mass audience, rather than just the niche purists I guess.

Yo you can't be too old to play this jewel. Hmm studying the graph I think I'm in the middle of the average age of Civ-player. Well can be wrong I'm not so much good at reading figures, I'm afraid of them ;)

Oh and I play warlord because at higher levels the AI tend to crush me yes no joke I'm not such Civ-buffs like you but I enjoy the game :D
But one has to be said:
There's only one thing I prefer over playing Civ:
March to the next disco and dancing with chic’s
Wohoo
[dance]
Dance to Trance

Too many replies to read all these pages with 56k...:( Anyway I'm 16. I can't drink, but atleast I can conquer the world in my spare time, no?

Your wives probably don't like you playing much because they think you're probably doing other "activities" on the computer.;)

That is precisely the problem many of us have had with the game and why we stopped playing it long ago, even though we loved Civ 2. Although someone who expects a modicum of accuracy and realism is not a "niche purist". We all said Firaxis "dumbed it down".

Civ 3 is a big step backwards in terms of realism and history from Civ 2, instead of a step forward. It is so unrealistic and nonsensical (in terms of history) it is in fact just a fantasy game. That is why it is off my computer, and why I won't deal with Firaxis again.

Pss Zouave, your age man, your age

I'm sorry, but why do you think it is a step backwards?

Bob, you will find Zouave posts occasionally just to bash Firaxis and Civ3.

Zouave indicates that he doesn't even play the game, but still joins a thread entitled "Too Old to Play" to bash the game's design. (I think he's still upset that his Tank lost to a Spearman once.)

Of course, you can excuse me for being a little off-topic due to my advanced age (see post above). ;)

Moderator Action: The topic of this thread and poll deals with the age of Civ3's players. It is threatening to veer off in an unwelcome direction. Zouave paid his penalty for his unseemly conduct of long ago, and is always welcome to join in discussion. We will have no "poster-bashing", nor even snide comments and innuendoes. Newcomers ignorant of his position, and his history, may ask him off-line, and they may perform a search for his posts. It will not be discussed in this thread.

Been playing computer games since the 1970's. Back then it was text based adventure games and a start trek games that used text charaters to represent ships and stars.

I have been playing all versions of Civilization, Caesar, Zeus, Emporer and Simcity. I wish they would make a new version of Transport Tycoon.

I am somewhere over forty.

I'm 31 and I have played civ I since It was in stores.
The Civ Legacy is the only games I played so much.
I used to play civI in my PC 286 !

I'm 51, and my wife doesn't think I'm too old to play. She thinks I'm too old to stay up until 2 or 3 in the morning when I have to work the next day. I can't disagree.

Sometimes I wish I had never asked for the darn thing for Xmas last year. I am seriously thinking of suing Firaxis. I mean, there is no warning on the outside of the box, saying that "using this product can cause serious sleep disorders, and addiction." Of course, if it were a class action suit, what could we expect to see, $2-$3 per person. And I really wouldn't want to hinder their release of CivIV.
