I'm playing a new HOF attempt and I have about 800 automated workers. Turns take about 5 mins for just those worker moves (anims are disabled). This is Celeron 1.1GHz. How fast machine do you need (is there fast enough yet?) to play Civ3/C3C at acceptable speed (eg. wait times under a minute)? I haven't tried Sid yet, but seems like there can be thousands of units so it should be even worse.

It doesn't matter how fast your machine is, 800 automated workers will take a long time between turn. My machine is a P4@3.4 GHz and I don't automate any worker. In my last game I played the entire 540 turns without automated a single worker.

I didnt really get it. Have you tried with automated workers and how long that took? Without automated workers, I would be way over the 5 min time I said for 800 automated workers. I'm trying to minimize the time I'm doing with Civ3. Anything over 30 manual workers is way behind my limited time for Civ3.
