Total NES: 1

Good news, erez has agreed to help me mod this thing. We will take turns updating, and so the nes can have two different perspectives, which could be interesting. so those who think i favor them, beware! and this will be good news for those who i usually screw over!

You are asking much. However, we could split babylon to two zones, both of us controlling half of the city. Babylon would become center of our trade and wealthiest city ever seen!
It ain't bloody well over yet. You sort of have an attack on your western frontier, andis....

Yes, I am aware of that, but it is only temporary. And how does that affect my affairs in the east?

Diverts your army from that avenue of attack, puts a double strain on your economy at risk from devastation from west and southeast, more difficult to counter two separate attacks (at least. No telling what I have planned bwahahaha) and, last but not least, it's a two-front war. Success on one end might prevent victory on the other. When you finally finish up, you might have lost so badly elsewhere that it might not matter that you have Babylon.

Just a few thoughts. Who is modding this turn?

Wonderfull... I loved this NES and I had much fun. Especialy the daily updates. Then you dissappear without notice, and when you come back you say: Oh, this NES is boring. Screw you! I will make a new one. Please join and play a bit, until I deceide that it is boring again.

Two-Mods One Nes? Thats not what i signed in for. Not that I would dislike Erez as a mod, I just don't like the two mod idea. Bye, bye Egypt is open

ooc The two mods on one NES are so this nes will live on :) not rely for the 2 mods prespective...

c'mon tossi, why don't you give it a try, how will it hurt you? Orders take a second, just see how it goes. if it doesnt, then I will mod this NES alone.

How was it not boring? How was it exciting?! There is nothing but orders going in and updates coming out.

Thats because there is little else for us to do at the moment. The world is building up in a slow period. **** man get over it, give us an update with perhaps a little bit of random events and then we might have something better to write a story about.

Oh and not that I have anything against erez I dont think the two mods idea works well and thus while I will not quit the nes like tossi did I will say 'I told you so' when it blows up in both your faces.

I will tell you why we shall not split up the remainder of Babylon. One the Ottomani Army already resides on territory designated as rightfully Arabian and thus we could easily justify its expulision from such territory if need be. Second the city of Babylon is mainly Arabic in nature and will not face a dual governbing which is inefficent and will not make it wealthy and finally you are as of yet a paper tiger and if you displease us in this small matter we could very much march north and help the people from your west that are currently raping, pillaging and conquering your provinces. Now what do you rather from us? Friend or foe?

Are we talking about the city of Babylon or the country? You can go and get rest of Babylon if you want, but Babylon(city) is deep inside our borders and giving it to you would mean that we then give you half of the lands we have conquered. Do you want the city or the country?

ok, in the interest of making this nes more fun for jason (not sure what else he could want). more after update (to give jason incentive to do the update, lol)
and i agree with sheep, there hasnt been much to do other then send orders and get updates becuase its an expansion phase. once everything is settled and some wars start up, then it'll get more interesting. when my orders have been the same for 4 turns (educ, army, expand), there's not much to write a story about.
-----------------------------

The position of "General of the Roddina Armies" had long ago become a family job. One of the sons of the retiring general had taken his job for as long as anyone could remember (though there was official record that stated it wasnt ALWAYS so).
Grisha was General Petrov's youngest son, but he was the only one in the family who had ever shown much interest in the military (to the great disappointment of the general, who though his older sons were waisting their lives outside the military). So when it became clear that the old general needed to retire Grisha assumed that he would get the position without question. But when his father anounced his retirement to the council they made one of their own (a member of the council) his replacement. This confused many people in the higher ranks, as it had long been assumed that members of the council were not elligible for the job. In reality the laws governing the council did not prevent one of their own from becoming the General, it was just that in all of Roddina's history no council member had ever wanted the job.
Grisha, though outraged at the council, kept his post as the second in command of the Army, and soon figured out why the council had denied him his rightfull command. The new General, like most of the council, was a schollar and a lover of peace, and with Roddina's army being the most powerfull in the world, the council did not want a young General to be tempted to take it on a counquering tour of the surrounding nations.
This was ofcourse exactly what Grisha had wanted to do once he became General. He considered it a great failure of his father that he had been unable to convince the council that not using Roddina's army was a mistake. Grisha knewe that none of their neighboring nations could withstand the might of the Roddina Army, especialy now that they had switched to using bronze instead of the copper that the more advanced nations of the rest of the world were still using.
Once the fanfare of the change of Generals was complete, the new General basicaly ignored the military and continued in the council to act as though he didnt even know that he was the general. Running the Army fell to Grisha, which he was all too happy to do. Grisha knew that he had to find a way to convince the council that USING the army was the "peacefull" thing to do. But because he had always though of tackling this problem once he was General, he did not have a plan for doing it from his current position.
Then one winter evening, he visited his father in their home village, and they spent the night talking away about the current situation, and how the council seemed to be trying to wrest control of the military away from the families that had served in it for generations and give it to the schollars who already had control of everything else. By early morning they were both prety drunk but something his father said struck Grisha as such a briliant idea that he sobered up in seconds, thanked his father, promised him that he would get the Army back from the council and quickly left.
The phrase his father had said was "What the council does not see, is that it is Roddina's responsibility not only to educate its own citizens, but to make sure that the peoples of our neighboring nations are educated as well. We are powerfull enough to influence the other governments or use our army to force them to improve their ways."
From that day Grisha had a powerfull purpose. He started to spread this idea of "responsibility to the rest of the world" around the higher circles of society in Moscow. The highly educated and mostly philosopher wannabee of the upper circles quickly picked up the idea as their own. And within a month there was considerable presure on the council to start considering the use of Roddina's power or military to get atleast the neighboring nations to increase their level of spending on education.
The peace loving council resisted for a while, but eventualy caved, and knowing what was comming, gave Grisha his rightfull post of General of Roddina (the council member who's had it for this time went back to just being a council member).

The map clearly shows that the capital of Babylon, which is Babylon remains free from your control. We do not wish for any lands you have conquered as of yet, unless we see unfair treatment of the aristocracy living in those lands.

ooc: I am going to call it Babylon anyways :P

What updates? I was off of the computer for a day and nothing happened of consequence here.

...I don't write stories because of my lack of expertise with the time period. I'd rather saddle people with something mildly bad rather than really bad.

My views follow those of tossi, but whatever, as long as erez doesnt intentionally cause me trouble because of my nice pink color and the ole china problem, then I'll stick it through. At any rate I have some extra time today so:

---------------------------

Another village was burning, the people slaughtered, and some of the more creative soldiers even put the heads on spears or wore the skulls. Another village which opposed the Zulu now lay in ruins.

Across all of Africa this scene is being repeated and repeated. The Impis of the Zulu continue the death march north and with the news of great wealth and decadent people to the north, the Zulu thirst for blood and conquest may soon reach a zenith.

-----

Orders

Increase economy by building roads and encouraging inter-town trade in the Empire.
Continue the steady expansion north kill or assilimating all tribes who oppose the mightly Zulu lion

Okay, I got home late and had to go to work. My apologies. I am updating both my NES's tomorrow, but this one will be done first. Hopefully we can get back on track after tomorrow,.

Are you sure I shouldn't have a growing economy instead of stable Jason? My Vikings did some mining and got an extra eco. level didn't they - and it seems they fell straight from prosperous to stable in one round and it has got me confused. Nevermind though, you're the Mod and know best - I've sent orders and they stay the way they are no matter what.

From Vikings to Khaevans
Never will there be peace. You have refused our magnanimous offer of peace.

Well I have deceided that I like this NES too much, so I will give it a try. However if it doesn't work...
