ok, with the recent release of new about the new Rome Total War add on (Barbarian Invasion or something) I'm just wondering what people would like the next full Total War to be? (lets face it, the franchise is just too popular now not to)

We've had Shogun Total War, Midevil Total War and now Rome so where woudl you like to take it? I've heard several whispers of a "Napolean Total War" but that might just be internet chat. I'd quite like a Napolean Total War, and my vote goes to that but I'm curious to see what else they could do. Perhaps set earlier, set between Midevil and Napolean, around the time that Spain was in her prime Philip: Total War perhaps :mischief: if they done that however they'd have to seriously upgrade the way the game handles navies.

Any thoughts?

I think they will do a Mythology: Total War, similar to Age of Mythology. That would be awesome.:D

but they seem to be sticking to actual physical parts of earth history, rather than Mythology, that'd be like Middle Earth: Total War........ hey that'd be pretty cool.......

they should do a World war 1 total war. You could have your men in trenches and use the 75mm to launch chlorine gas and have A7vs and the mark female/male series. That would be awesome. The only limitation would be that there would be very few countries and america wouldnt have tanks.

I would rather they sticked to the real world...

I recently read this unfortunate news on gamespot:

Many-a-PC gamer was thrilled last fall when Activision released Rome: Total War, the latest installment in the Creative Assembly's long-running real-time strategy series. However, those same gamers were horrified when the British developer announced it had been bought by Sega and was now developing a console action game, Spartan: Total Warrior. The news made many believe that the Creative Assembly was abandoning PC development altogether.
I really hope its not true--there is so much potential for great games in that series.

na no chance, they'll keep building PC games they wouldn't just abandon a platform because they changed producers. that'd be like saying yeah we're going to abandon Civ4 on the PC to make it for the X-box2

I would like to see this too..Maybe go like 1880-1920 though to get some more stuff in (Late Imperial Period). You could always add semi fictional tanks and stuff. There is quite a few countries. USA, UK, France, Russia, Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey, Italy as playables. CPs could be Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Greece, Portugal, Belgium (Though I think the Belgians would be fun to play)..Maybe some neutrals Spain, Denmark..Or if its a world map add in Ethiopia, China, Japan, Persia. South America too, but thats confusing and actually too many countries.

Actually an American Civil War version would be great, it wouldn't be as complex since it would only have 2 countries, but the battles would be awesome.

Mesopotamia: Total War(Assyrians etc). Then Chariot Invasion. They will not change the battle system much and the army sizes will not be absurd like they would be in the later eras like WW1. A game about 30 Years War should be fine too.

This would require a radical departure from their current design. The engine, as written, couldn't handle engagements featuring hundreds of thousands of combatants, air-power, long range artillery, fronts that are dozens of miles long/deep, submarines, etc.

Also, if the weaponry is modelled somewhat realistically, the western theatre would bog down into a series of dueling static fronts -- which doesn't make for a very compelling game.
