Thats a hard one!

I really loved Shogun, and lost hours of my young life to it. Then Medival came along and I lost hours from the middle of my life. Then guess what? RTW comes along and I only recoved about 6 months ago - when I got BTS.

For me its RTW as MTW crashed like a junkie in rehab.

Haven't played M2TW as my computer can''t take it.

I would play Kingdoms, but by installing it I pushed my hardrive so far I can't play certain parts due to lack of memory.
In case you didn't already know you can install one Kingdom campaign at a time which would be around 1gb of HDD space.

here's how I rate the TW games:
Shogun--great gameplay. if you play TW just for the combat phase, STW is for you. You got good hills and valleys, rivers, a few woods, etc., to really play good tactics in. (but beware--your troops, and the enemy's, easily get killed, and fast!)
Medieval--unequaled strategy. you can bribe enemy (and neutral) generals and diplomats. if you know how and you've the cash for it, you can build your empire from different corners of the map (for example, taking volga while setting up castles in spain using your emissaries and plenty of cash some guts. you can form alliances by marriage. You can appoint any of your good generals to be governor (something that won't happen in Rome or Medieval 2). You could even enjoy gobbling neighbors' lands while carefully avoiding excommunication.
Rome--I consider best overall. Diplomacy not as good as MTW (go on, disagree--I know some players consider RTW to have the 2nd best diplomacy play), but the RTW mods, XGM and specially EB, make RTW the BEST overall in my book. It's got great 3D graphics, capacity to put 10,000 or more warriors in one screen, proper assault engines to knock down walls, plagues (!) which I could spread using my spies to the enemy (and neutral) cities for a touch of biological warfare, and lots more!!
Medieval 2--are you kidding? for me it's nothing but eye candy. The play has degenerated (from the "best" of Shogun), diplomacy (although some consider to be "the best")is a shadow of other TWs. Kingdoms, even worse.
In case you haven't tried playing them all yet.
Hawooh.

well.......I think Medieval 2 is great....maybe I think you're just saying this cuz you don't have a good computer.....

Great, summer has moved to Christmas (unless my parents can get really happy and allow me to buy games earlier, which might very well happen). At least I'll get a new computer this weekend. I hope.

I'm getting Medieval II: Total War in summer.

If you're going to wait THAT long, you should just hold out for Empires.

Well, my friend, I hate to boast--fact is, I loathe to boast--but I rather believe that my rig is good enough for my gaming needs: an AMD microprocessor of a model not quite 1 year old (not Pentium!--Pentium's not as good at gaming as Athlon 64FX is, no matter what Intel claims), a quite satisfactory ATI GPU that allows me to play ALL Total War games, including the mods and Europa Barbarorum, and my PC is loaded with 430 GB of hard disk space--enough, I think, to have about 130 different games in it. I'm sorry to say, though, that my PC isn't VERY fast enough for Call of Duty 4 or the latest Brothers in Arms games, but I don't care much about FPS games anyway.
One funny thing I notice in many people who post on forums like this--they easily jump into the wrong conclusions about other contributors (whom they know nothing about--maybe who's at the other side of the world, for all they know), then play the sarcastic tough-guy-sounding person. You don't know me, my friend, and you don't know my rig (which, by the way, is lined up this June for adding a Physics card). If my PC isn't THAT good (and if I haven't spent HUNDREDS of hours playing all varieties of Total War games), maybe I'm not really who I am. I temporarily stopped playing TW games ONLY because I acquired both Civ IV and Civ IV Warlords lately. Soon I'll go back to playing Total War when I've gotten enough of Civs. So you don't know me, you don't know my PC, and you don't know how long I've been at Total War. (Maybe, if we both have the time, I'll teach you how to wage biological warfare with Total War without shedding one drop of your warriors' blood, and maybe win bloodless one enemy city or two.
Hawooh.

I don't think you should wait for Empire, the graphics look like you'll have to have THE TOP of the line comps to play that.....

*Slight overeaction*
Yeah, CivFan's assumption was pretty much baseless, but still, I don't think he required quite that rant to be corrected. Besides, I don't think the "sarcastic tough-guy-sounding" thing was intentional, it's just because CivFan doesn't speak English as his first language. If it had been, it'd probably have sounded a fair bit more, well, sarcastic and tough sounding.

well, I'm sorry if I made you angry about my comment wumpus..... I just meant that I don't think Medieval II deserved THAT bad of a rating by you..

and how did you know that my first language isn't English Traitorfish?

and how did you know that my first language isn't English Traitorfish?
I saw you mention that you from a non-English speaking country on some other thread. (Can't remember which one, exactly.)

ah...you have good eyes (maybe because you have eye for your avatar)

RTW on the top of the poll?

WTH?

A game proclaimed the worst of the series by elite of Total War players...

And one that had actually brought the game to a bigger market...

did you read the thread? It has best mods, and is pretty cool too........

Mods ain't fixing the AI and they don't make battlefields larger as well as they don't fix the battles from being hasty and stupid. RTW is the worst TW game.

MTW has btw plenty of mods that enhance it.

well.....like europa Barbaroum, The fourth age, Roma Surrectum, and others..... That's just some them.....

I have not idea......I personally think that M2TW is the best but they're all good.....
