Trade: Question on trading

I don't know if this is a bug or if I misunderstood something. Playing as Shoshoe I checked which CS would give me most gold. It was a cargo ship going from my capital to Vancouver.

When I tried to start the route after my ship was built I found that it couldn't create the route. I don't know if it's a bug or simply because I have a caravan going to Vancouver. As far as I know you can have both things. I was 90% sure, but now, thinking of it, I am wondering if that's the reason.

It had happened once before. Back then I didn't notice if it was the case with the caravan or not. If not, I bet it is a bug.

Or could there be something else I am missing? Just double checked - I haven't got a cargo ship going to the CS.

Maybe Vancouver is too far away for a cargo ship and you should build a harbor first.

You can only have one trade route between city A and city B at the same time.

Not a problem with the distance - I can see it in the trade overview, and it says there is no other cargo ship for that city.

I guess you mean one trade route no matter if it is a ship or caravan, Boghog. In that case there's an explanation
