This is a Trial Poll on the charge as originally posted by Veera Anlai that Shaitan violated the following law:

COL.C.1.F
"Organizes decisions on what to do with Great Leaders"

Organize, as defined in our Three Books... "Organize – In the context of a leader’s duties, this includes suggesting a plan, discussing it and passing instructions on to the Designated Player."
This would include polling, or at *least* discussing with the citizens, what to do with the Great Leader. Shaitan did neither.
This incident occurred in our November 4th Turn Chat (825 B.C. TC)

Discussion on the various arguments and evidence can be found in the thread entitled PI: People vs. Shaitan

If you have not read this discussion, *please* do so *before* voting!

This poll will be up for 72 hours

The charge is that I posted neither a discussion nor a poll regarding what to do with a great leader. This is immediately proven false as I did post a discussion on my first day in office. That thread is here. A vote of "guilty" in this trial poll indicates that the voter is, in effect, swearing that I did not post the thread linked above.

In my support I point out The Code of Laws, C-2-d-(4): Formulate departmental policies, plans and agendas of their own in the absence of citizen feedback (forum outage, low participation, etc). It was my duty under our laws to formulate policy in this matter. The discussion thread had received negligible participation. As you can see with your own eyes, only 8 people had responded to it. This is an obvious case of low participation and I was legally required to make my own decision.

Although I agree that it is generally preferable to poll on issues, this is not a requirement of our laws. The definition of Organize does not mention polling at all.

There were 5 people at the chat with me. Not a single person thought it necessary to return this matter to the forums for a poll. The stated will of the people was that I make the decision requried of me by law and continue the chat turn.

I ask all reasonable citizens to attest to my innocense. To summarize my defense:
  • The charges as filed are not applicable. I did post a discussion and the charges are that I did not do so.
  • The rules required that I act in the manner that I did.
  • Polls are not a legal requirement of organizing policy and agendas.
  • 100% of the citizens who were present for the decision supported it.

*CivGeneal stands in the jurry box

Shaitan is innocent :)

*CivGeneral sits back down

I voted innocent

I feel that all the charges touch on ethical issues, but from a strict legal standpoint, I am not willing to convict on this topic.

17-4, he's innocent :)

Now, can we finally get back to Fanatika, without smearing shaitan's blood :D

It would appear that this issue will be firmly decided once the 72 hour period expires.

Y'know... After all of this, can you guess what I did? I accidentally voted 'Innocent!' :rotfl:

Innocent beyond doubt. If this were a trial in ethics, guilty, but its not.
(Don't worry Shaitan, I still think your great ;) )

This poll closes in about 40 minutes. Shaitan has overwhelmingly been found innocent on the remaining charge.

Thank you everyone for your participation.

Okay, now back to the game :)
