Many of you may not find my desperate theories as to why the US electorate voted for Donald Trump credible.

The thing is I don't find the theories put forward by others here any more credible.
Too many democrats did not vote.

Well, as long as society has existed (such that they have any concept of 'traditional' masculinity), erotic art has also existed.

Which would be a great hypothesis in a world where Republicans and their voters also play by the same rule.

They don't, so "Democrats not worthy, I don't vote" almost always translate to "I, for one, welcome our new Republican overlords."

Going after porn is just as ******** as going after the "male gaze" in video games!
I hope both proponents of these witch hunts crash and burn.
Video games policed by rainbow watch:scan: are crashing and burning!
I hope the same happens to these "puritan" senators that like enjoying way nastier stuff than just porn!

I'm almost certain that there is no "rainbow watch" policing any games, contrary to what grifters may have told you.

What would you call Sweet Baby Inc, then?

There’s still Stellar Blade, The First Descendant, and Marvel Rivals that have attractive female characters in them on the market. SJWs acting like the lefty version of Jack Thompson is vastly overblown, a constructed strawman built by the likes of The Quarterling and Geeks and Gamers.

The crazy thing is that, so far, Trump's venality, vanity, and complete lack of ideology are actually leading to better foreign policy outcomes than we got from the True Believers in the Fundamental Decency of the Indispensable Nation

Mainstream porn has nothing to do with art, erotic or otherwise.

Regardless, heterosexual men have created porn (and erotic art), not vice versa.🙄

a consulting firm brought onboard by videogame companies for the explicit purpose of adapting to a changing market. it's basically market analysis and suggestions because of perceived changing tastes in mass market consumption. and as noted by cg, there's plenty of assorted horny titles. and i might add that horny games are not always midsized releases or schlock; some of these titles are huge and/or excellent.

for sweet baby inc, it is videogame companies being proactive, it's not the illuminati.

now whether you think this is cynical or whether the effort is mistaken is another question entirely. it's normal for businesses to make mistakes. but none of the examples given is censorship by "the left".

Just a shame about all the internal policy outcomes, eh?

The benefits of the foreign policy are not immediately apparent either, they seem to be mostly profitable to Trump himself, his family and his financial handlers genre Elon Musk.

Trump's sons, Donald Jr., 47, and Eric Trump, 41, are openly doing business for themselves and their father, who officially manages nothing but owns much within the Trump Organization and the empire built on his image. On May 5, the New York Times published an enlightening investigation into the Trump sons, who have traveled across Europe and the Middle East since their father's reelection to do business, promote the Trump real estate brand and grow their cryptocurrency business, (...)

Things weren’t always so harmonious between Musk and the Saudis. The Kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund, PIF, had built a stake in Tesla of nearly 5% in 2018, before Musk falsely tweeted that he had funding secured from the Saudis to take the automaker private. The S.E.C. sued Musk, and Musk said he would “probably not” take money from the Saudis again following the murder of journalist and Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi. The Saudis then reportedly sold off most of their Tesla shares in 2020.

I can barely talk about their domestic policy and what needs to be done about it without violating the forum rules so I would appreciate if you'd dial back the snark

Heterosexuality and traditional masculinity quite obviously predate porn.

You're begging the question as these things clearly do not predate porn in their currently-existing form. There is a lot bad research on this question (pitfalls of religious social conservatism and various kinds of manosphere woo that echo General Ripper's obsession in Dr. Strangelove) but it seems clear that porn is having an effect on the sexuality of mostly young men.

Fair enough, but I assume you're not counting America's precipitous drop in reputation, the associated fall in tourism (to the tune of billions of dollars in lost revenue) and the unmitigated tariff disaster as foreign policy outcomes?

I consider immigration policy to be domestic policy, and that is the cause of the tourism drop. The US' reputation falling is like a market correction, our reputation was massively inflated and we were overvalued.

The tariff stuff is stupid indeed but since he keeps reversing it I consider the matter too unsettled to really have "outcomes" yet.

And you missed the best counterargument, which is the shuttering of USAID causing huge numbers of preventable deaths.

Anyway I think what I said holds if we restrict it to the Middle East. The Gulf monarchies bribing the Zionism out of an American administration is something I never imagined I'd see (and it's not clear yet that that is what we're seeing).
