Hey, sorry if this problem is in the archives but I'm on a library computer and they're closing soon. I'm trying to install Civ4 but when I click "Install" it takes me to a blue screen that reccommends I run a system diagnostic, especially a memory check. On the laptop that I'm putting the game on I don't have access to the internet, so how can I run a memory check without having to download anything? Thanks.

Welcome to CFC :)
your laptop should come with its own diagnostics utility - it should be one of the startup options in the BIOS. Or you can download a small diagnostics program and have it run from cd or memory stick - all such diagnostics run best during startup, i.e. before Windows takes over...

Is BIOS the startup part where you can choose to run Windows in safe mode? Don't know how to get to that. Thanks for the help in advance.

Actually the BIOS is the thing you see just after starting the computer, even before windows does anything - unfortunately every computer manufacturer uses different keys with which you can access it and if you do not know how its difficult to find out blindly. But just in case I happen to know it: what laptop are you using?

Actually, I got it to work by installing it in safe mode. I ran into that black terrain, glitch though, but I used the little map editor trick to reveal all terrain and have just been playing it that way. Thanks for your help, though.
