TSG#1: Great power of Carthaginians

Starlifter - From your own post no less I think the rules under Misc are the ones to look at. Other than the "no bribing" rule, the "No Fundy" part is also one that is somewhat different.
Ahhh yup, I *did* post that, as I see (albiet cut and paste, LOL)... I should carefully things, hehe!!

But I'm glad ya'll caught it early in my discussion. I usually "visuallize" the game unfolding a certain way about 4,000 years before the battles occur. That which never was will now never occur and future clandestine glory unrequieted will be unleased in modern steel!

BTW, I love to bribe, but my favorite thing in all of Civ II is modern combat... and destroying entire civs in the most elegant and efficient fashion. I never get the chance for the exercise of modern combat in GOTMs... The biggest battle I ever remember in a GOTM (of mine) is Stealth fighters vs. Barbarian Fanatics. I have to put a lot of extra restrictions on my own private gaems to allow the AI to even survive into the modern era.

I agree with the bribe rule, though. The AI is helpless if the human both thinks and bribes. It has no real defense for that, except Democracy or Fundy with a HUGE treasury.

Now that I've read and digested the obviously complex rules, I'm set... I was just "testing" you... ;) :)

I think this is interesting. I would like to follow your savegames to see the progress. It was great when starlifter attached his savegame here on this thread. It would be great if all of you could do it. Or am I asking too much? I don't know the time and effort it takes to do that, but if you could, I and probably some other people would be greatful.

NOTE TO MY TEAM:

I'm not sure exactly who is up next, since there may be comings and goings. Civfighter, if you can post or notify whoever is next in your Master Rotation, the game can just be downloaded from here. I figure this thread is the one place that everyone can get teh file and communicate. With the new BBS, uploads are very easy to do! :) Thanks!

Our empire has not improved for a while. I sent email to
deimos(deimos@****you.co.uk)(deimos@thetoilet.com)
and got the message that the email box is overflown. So not until I hear deimos gain, he will be skipped for now on.
The new order of play:
1. civfighter (big_joe_2000@yahoo.com)
2. starlifter (starlifter@eudoramail.com)
3. Berzerker (berzerker3@excite.com)
4. Hell-Raiser (sakke_tq@hotmail.com)

Hi, Hell-Raiser, have you found your CIVII CD yet?

And Az, if Hell-Raiser lost the CD for good, then we will have only three players left. I am allright with that, or if someone want to join, I am also fine.

So Berzerker, you are next in line. Enjoy.

The reign of Berzerker II was peaceful and productive with nearly every city contributing to the construction of a magnificent chapel (in 250 BC) to serve the spiritual needs of the Carthaginian people...

Rusicade founded in 325 BC...

Chinese Monarch declares war on Carthage in 300 BC after diplomatic attempt to acquire new form of government - the Republic - from the Chinese... They will pay!!!

I think we will wait couple days for Hell Raiser's response. If he can not play, I will jump in after the weekend.

I'm sorry guys, but family matters will prevent me from continuing for at least a couple weeks. Perhaps my next turn can be taken by someone else.

If this succession game is still on and it a Civ 2 Gold Edition game, I'll join in.

Let me know.

It would be great if you could get the Carthaginians back on track, Killer A's!

I have not seen Starlifter on the forums for quite some time, but Civfighter and Berzerker may still be about. I would try to send them emails or PM's to see if they would like to join back up. If not, get another person or two and see if you can resurrect them.

Good luck to you. Otherwise, you can look into the ugly Greeks or wait until a new one starts up.

Here's the file. Journal tommorrow

In the year 250 BC King Killer A’s I took the throne cause new one else would. Where he took is still up for debate.

It was a quiet time in the kingdom and remained relatively quiet throughout his reign.

250 BC: King KA called on the Russian leadership. Here is a segment of the conservation.
KA: Would you like Philosophy?
Russia: Sure! Here’s the Wheel for your trouble.
KA: Here’s Math and Construction cause I like you.
Russia: We love you! You’re so kind and generous!
KA: How about we swap maps?
Russia: No problem!
The Russian map revealed that they have two isolated cities, Kiev and Smolensk. If only our boats wouldn’t get lost once they leave the sight of land, they would be great conquests.

KA ordered the horsemen to kick the Zulu phalanx of our territory. They promptly dunked them in the ocean where they sunk. They must’ve been witches.

225 BC: Malaca starts building Triremes. These islands have no more room for the wonderful Carthaginian Empire.
The Indians and Chinese trade Construction and Republic.
King KA runs to talk to our wonderful allies the Indians
KA: I like that Republic stuff! Can I have it?
India: Only if you give me The Wheel
KA: OK
India: Now pay me 50 gold for this alliance
KA: What do I look like? A bank?
India: Then kiss this alliance bye bye.
KA: Whoop-de-do :o

200-150 BC: Tries to invent baseball.

125 BC: Utica builds Spice Caravan and starts construction of a granary.
Leptis Parva builds Copper Caravan and starts construction of a harbor.

100 BC: Panormus builds Silk Caravan and starts construction of a harbor.
Rusicade builds Phalanx and starts construction of a harbor.
KA likes fish!!!
Gades founded

75 BC: Baseball invented. King wins!

50 BC: Caralis builds Hides Caravan and starts construction of a granary.
Carthage builds Silver Caravan and starts construction of a harbor.

25 BC: Cartenna builds Silver Caravan and starts construction of a harbor.
Astronomy discovered. :grad: KA stares at the stars for months then tells the brainiacs to find a way off these islands (Navigation)

1 AD: KA decides he’s sick of counting backward and starts a new calendar.
Then he meets with the high council…for fun.
Sir Kills-a-lot: These haystacks suck!!! Build me some city walls!!!
Mr. Moneybags: No way. Too expensive. Build marketplaces instead.
Sir Kills-a-lot: HELL NO!!! GIVE ME CITY WALLS!!!
Sir Kills-a-lot then attacks Mr. Moneybags and kills him. :slay: The estate of Mr. Moneybags sues Sir Kills-a-lot for wrongful death.

Head of the brainiacs: We’re #1
Nikita the foreign adviser: It’s true.

Nikita: Other civs love you.
H of B: yup
Sir Kills-a-lot: Who cares!

Elvi: Raise those luxury taxes and have happy people
H of B and Moneybag’s Estate: No way!
KA: I’m the supreme ruler! I don’t need happy people. :king

Malaca builds Trireme

20 AD: Utica builds granary and starts construction of an aqueduct.

40-100 AD: KA sleeps and dreams of the blood of infidels
French build the Great Library

120 AD: Adventure seeking Trireme lost. 2 bead caravans go down with it.
Panormus/Carthage Silver Caravan generates 74 gold
Gades builds phalanx and starts construction of an harbor.

140 AD: Someone builds Colossus. KA yawns.

160 AD: Leptis Parva builds harbor and starts construction of a marketplace.

180 AD: Utica builds Aqueduct and starts construction of a Copernicus Observatory.

200 AD: Caralis builds Harbor and starts construction of a marketplace.
Carthage builds granary and starts construction of a harbor.
Malaca switches from Trireme to marketplaces.
Another Trireme is lost.
KA talks to the Chinese
China: Declare war on Russia!
KA: OK.
China: Cease-fire?
KA: Sure. Trade techs?
China: No way!
KA: Well here’s Monotheism and Astronomy.
China: OK! We’ll trade. Here’s Banking
KA: Here’s Medicine. How about Peace.
China: Sure!
The French get all of the traded tech from the Great Library

On the way home from talking to the Chinese, King Killer A’s is attacked by killer bees and dies.

Thus ends the reign of Killer A’s I.

I didn’t switch to Republic cause I didn’t know if was had the happiness to maintain it and I wasn’t sure what year to switch without disorder. Move all caravans to Utica to help build the Observatory.

.... and the Carthaginians rise from obscurity...

Good to have this team back, and good job Killer A's. I'm afraid it may be just you and civfighter for a while. I think I remember Berzerker having to leave for family reasons, and I haven't seen a post by starlifter in about a month.

Perhaps there are some others who would like to join up.

BTW: feel free to play many extra turns during each "reign". It will help you to catch up to the flailing Greeks and the bright, shining Britians.

The Real World caused a hiatus for me, but Starlifter is back, and I see the game faded into oblivian. It will be continued in a few days. Don't know if anyone is still around from the original list...
