TSG144 After Actions

This was my first OCC. It was pretty fun. It's strange I thought I would struggle getting enough money to buy off the city states, but that wasn't really an issue. Also, switching around to satisfy their various "connect to me quests" kept the love going.

- Were you first to found the World Congress?
- What Policy trees did you focus on?

Early went tradition and finished it, then bounced far enough down on Patronage to make buying and retaining doable (and build the wonder). Grabbed Economics for the money boost to capital (WHIch was substantial). (but just the first pick.

- Being OCC, how did you approach your Diplo strategy?

Tried to stay friends with everybody, was only attacked once, and murdered one of the offending civs cities. It was probably good Japan started far away.

- Discuss your Ideology choices. Did you choose any Ideology policies that specifically focused on City States? If so, which ones and why.

Freedom, but mostly enjoyed the things that were good for one city (less specialist food, and 6 free support units pretty good, and specialist boost

- How many votes were needed before the United Nations was created?

35

- Discuss any thoughts on the settings or map size. Did you enjoy the small archipelago map?

I like them, I find the higher difficulties too rough on non-water maps.

Settled in place. Only a little war against Japan for to take over some more land. Not enough time to properly report.

This was surprisingly easy for me, although I did make an ill-fated attempt to get GL that started things off on a sour note. I tend to have trouble on Immortal, but being isolated in an OCC with peaceful neighbors worked out well for me. I bribed Nobunaga to attack Dido early on, and they stayed at war pretty much the whole game. I was never DOW'ed on, and I only declared once myself (at the request of Morrocco) to clear Nobu's city that had made its way onto my island. By that time I had CS gifted Pracinhas and Winged Hussars to combat his riflemen/gatling guns, so it was over pretty quickly. On to the next!

I don't remember seeing the FOY, even after I teched Satellites. And I had combed the map pretty well before that, with submarines with extra sight promotion

If you load the game on turn 1, then settle on the spot, send your warrior to the left. You will meet a city state.
South from that city state (you will probably need to embark or get +1 sight) you will see it, however your nearest land tile is 4 spaces away so even if you could get it, you can't work it. Thought that was pretty funny since it gives so much food but is so out of reach.

Also I meant Lake Victoria, not Fountain of Happiness. I type up my report after playing the GoTM for 6-8hrs straight so I often make mistakes in my report.

ok, thanks for clarifying x2Madda. i think graphically FoY and LV are similar so I can understand the confusion/memory lapse in your report. i remember double checking the map and asking about in our gotm team forums but then forgot to address it in here. that was my memory lapse, haha. thanks for bringing it up again, zxcvbob.
