Raging barbs at the start? 3 cities, UN hard-built, a bit short on cash to buy CS' and had to loan a bit..

Happy New Year :)

Did a quite horrible game for a t187 victory.

I lost a couple of wonders including porcelain tower, spent to much gold on buying tiles at start.

Settled three additional cities, one to south by the gold, one to northwest by river and one to northeast by the other lux resource.
Had some serious happiness trouble to begin with. Lateron I also settled to the west to claim to inscence.

End game everything was looking nice until i relized that I needed 10 more techs to get globalization. I failed to see that "computers" required replacable parts, flight etc. so I had only teched everything through electricity.
Spent all my saved scientist to get techs so my RAs was kinda useless when I had to start tech fertilizer etc.

Anyway, was fun game except for all mistakes that i made

Focussed building for science, then cash and happiness. I built the UN in 6 turns (using GE). Both Persia and Arabia were CS competitors at start of UN build and I decided to remove one from the equation by invading Arabia. Having captured Mecca (which annoyingly contained none of their numerous Wonders), I secured a very lucrative peace deal which helped purchase sufficient CS for victory.

My only non-TGS CiV experience is with Small+Quick games so I was reasonably prepared for this challenge. The isolated start allowed for strong city development and, given that the Astro tech route was ideal for the rush to Globalization, I made contact with other AI in reasonable time. Isolation also meant that the lack of local strategic resources was unimportant. I completed 14 RA, breaking one myself to DoW on Arabia.

Seems like using the hammer-overflow trick will shave some turns off Wonder / Project build. I have not used it to date but it looks to be particularly useful for Culture / Science projects (TSG27??:- if I ever get that far!!!!)

I'm returning to GotM after a hiatus. Gambled and moved my settler north and ended up settling on the coast, which gave me the observatory bonus, but also created chronic early-game happiness issues without the wine. Ended up with 5 cities, although I didn't settle them as quickly as I'd have liked b/c of happiness...no wars. Quick games are fun! Good map!
